The referee has added to the game's edge - some yellows correct, some harsh, but he's had a big say on the game.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 58 mins

    Cyprus 1-2 Scotland

Bookings aplenty here as the referee decides to book Jason Demetriou for a late challenge on Greg Taylor. It seems a though the Scotland left-back is also going in to the book for kicking the ball away just before the nasty challenge.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 55 mins

    Cyprus 1-2 Scotland

John McGinn goes in to the book for what looked like a rather unfortunate late challenge on Jason Demetriou.

It's a really good response, we created the opportunity for Naismith just before but then McGinn steers it past the goalkeeper. It's a lovely finish, carrying on the good goal scoring form for Scotland. Well-worked from Taylor down the left and good finish - brilliant.

  6. goal

GOAL Cyprus 1-2 Scotlandpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2019

    John McGinn

Scotland have hit back almost immediately through a close-range strike from John McGinn. The Aston Villa midfielder latches on to a Greg Taylor cross - that looked as though it may have been intended for Steven Naismith at the front post at first - and fires the ball in to the bottom left corner.

Such a big chunk of the youthful Cypriot support is here in club or school colours. There are banks of same-coloured T-shirts and tracksuits in the stand opposite - it resembles a game of Tetris!

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2019

    Cyprus 1-1 Scotland

The freekick that led to that goal was through a clumsy and rash challenge from Scott McKenna, who needlessly lunged to intercept the ball and brought his Cypriot counterpart down. The Aberdeen defender has since been booked.

You have to applaud the quality - he leans back, gets his right foot through it, and smashes it into the top corner. It is a magnificent finish from Efrem.

    George Efrem

The home side have levelled the scoring through former Rangers players George Efrem. A free-kick drifts in to the Scotland box, where Declan Gallagher is waiting to head the ball clear. However Efrem gets on the end of the loose ball with a superb volley that flies in to the net.

It's a nice way to get off the mark for your country - operating off the right wing as well. It was a beautifully taken goal, he's been in such good form for Celtic and it's nice to see him replicating that for his international side. He's so confident taking people on down the wing, I like watching him with the style he's running down the right side.

We've shown plenty from midfield to front, and look really equipped to cause more problems. We have been focused at the back in the last 15 minutes of the half. We got away with one with the Cyprus shot off the crossbar, but all good when you're winning an international game away from home with the record we have at the moment.

Give us a thumbs up if you're happy with Scotland's performance so far and a thumbs down if, well, you aren't.

  17. HALF-TIME Cyprus 0-1 Scotlandpublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2019

We're at the halfway point and so far so good for Steve Clarke's Scotland side. Well, sort of.

Ryan Christie's outstanding individual goal has given the visitors the lead, but only after a shot from Georgios Efrem hit the crossbar and looked as though it went over the line.

The travelling Tartan Army are in full song but they won't be able to rest easy until Scotland put another few goals between themselves and danger.

  18. Substitution for Cypruspublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2019

    Cyprus 0-1 Scotland

It looks a though Andreas Karo is being forced off with an injury. He is replaced by Grigoris Kastanos.

    Cyprus 0-1 Scotland

    Quote Message

Christie has always been a great player but it's been a great rise - having to go on loan to get game time and going back to Celtic not looking like getting back into the team, he's now a mainstay with his energy and creativity. Now he scores a sublime goal at international level - he's on to great things.

We are being treated to constant replays of Ryan Christie's goal and we certainly can't complain because it really is a thing of beauty. A first international goal for the Celtic midfielder who is playing like a seasoned professional at this level.
