Cardiff rallying now and they come close to making it 2-2.

Ball is bouncing around the Brentford six-yard box but nobody can get the telling touch to finish it off.

  2. goal

GOAL: Barnsley 1-1 Readingpublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Lucas Joao (76 mins)

    Leveller for Reading at Oakwell.

Not the prettiest goal, but they won't care and Lucas Joao pokes it home from close range.

A Charlie Adam corner from the left wasn't cleared and Joao made the most of the chance to pounce.

    Wigan 1-1 West Brom

Into the last 20 minutes of this one and all of a sudden, it's all West Brom.

Have to feel for Wigan as they deservedly took the lead after dominating the first half, but by the time they did, they probably should've been 4-0 up.

  4. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 0-2 QPRpublished at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Bright Osayi-Samuel (67 mins)

What a goal this is... But someone put in a tackle!

Bright Osayi-Samuel, channeling his inner Son Heung-min, has just run from well inside his own half all the way into the Birmingham box and slammed Queens Park Rangers into a 2-0 lead.

He shows great strength and perseverance, striding fully 70 yards, but Blues boss Pep Clotet won't be chuffed with the defending.

One goal each... One red card each!

The referee has brandished four yellow cards this evening, but all of them have been shared between Tom Carroll and Bradley Dack.

This time it's Blackburn forward Dack who receives his marching orders for a foul on Matt Grimes.

  6. goal

GOAL: Brentford 2-1 Cardiff Citypublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Marlon Pack (64 mins)

    Game on at Griffin Park...

Marlon Pack gets Cardiff a goal back out of nothing really but it's a good strike from a well worked free-kick that sees him rifle home a right-foot strike from the edge of the box.

Just under 25 minutes to go.

    Barnsley 1-0 Reading

Charlie Adam has a free-kick well saved by Barnsley keeper Sam Radlinger.

More trouble for the visitors as forward George Puscas has to come off with a knock and Sam Baldock is on in his place.

    Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Still the Owls ahead as we reach the hour mark in this one.

Adam Reach nearly teed-up a second for them for Steven Fletcher to score again, but the Rams just get themselves back in time to clear.

    Wigan 1-1 West Brom

And that was Charlie Austin's last act in the game as Slaven Bilic makes a triple substitution of which he was one of them to make way.

Doesn't look best pleased about it and is seen remonstrating with a few people on both his own bench and in the stands as he gets his coat (literally and metaphorically!).

  10. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-1 West Brompublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Charlie Austin (59 mins)

Wigan v West BromImage source, PA Media

This is a throwback goal from the early 90s!

West Brom are level and it's come from an indirect free-kick inside Wigan's penalty box after mistaken back pass.

All the Wigan players are lined-up on their own line inside the goal but it's Charlie Austin who smashes the ball through all of them after it was laid off to him to net the equaliser.

  11. RED CARD (Carroll)published at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Swansea 1-1 Blackburn

This could be a big moment in this game!

Tom Carroll is sent off for a second bookable offence in the middle of the park and Swansea are down to 10 men.

  12. goal

GOAL: Barnsley 1-0 Readingpublished at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Cauley Woodrow (58 mins)

Well then - we could have two big results at the bottom at this rate!

Barnsley go ahead and it's Cauley Woodrow who pounces on a mistake from Reading.

Michael Morrison gives it away in his own half and Jacob Brown cooly slotted it across to Woodrow to finish.

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Wigan 1-0 West Brom

Almost 2-0 to Wigan but the crossbar saves West Brom!

Sam Morsy involved again for the hosts who sees his right-foot shot from a well worked free-kick bounce back with Sam Johnstone easily beaten.

    Brentford 2-0 Cardiff City

Brentford keep on piling on the pressure looking for a third.

Said Benrahma wants a goal for sure and his right-foot effort forces another good save from Neil Etheridge.

There we go then, just as I was asking for, a couple of early goals to get this second half going....

  16. goal

GOAL: Wigan 1-0 West Brompublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Sam Johnstone OG (50 mins)

    Oh my!

Well, you can't say Wigan haven't deserved this lead, but it's come in somewhat unfortunate circumstances for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone.

Sam Morsy with a rocket of a shot from distance for Wigan which strikes the bar and then bounces off the back of Johnstone and into the net.

  17. goal

GOAL: Brentford 2-0 Cardiff Citypublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    Ollie Watkins (46 mins)

Brentford v CardiffImage source, Getty Images

Great start to the second half for Brentford....

Ollie Watkins gets his name on the scoresheet once again with his 12th league goal of the season and it's a very delicate glancing header that beats Neil Etheridge.

Great cross from the scorer of the first goal, Bryan Mbeumo, from the right to set it up.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

Right - time to get going again.

Let's have a few more goals please in this second half, they were in a bit short supply in the first 45 minutes.

  19. 'Very little to admire'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019

    HT: Birmingham 0-1 QPR

This really has been desperately poor fayre.

The only shot on target came in injury time when Blues failed to clear an Eberechi Eze free-kick and QPR skipper Grant Hall stunned the hosts by scrambling home his third goal of the season.

Other than the occasional spark of flair from Blues winger Jeremie Bela and teenager Jude Bellingham, there’s been very little else to admire.

But there was at least a brief half-time appearance from former Blues and QPR striker Don Givens, the ex-Republic of Ireland international. Now there was a player who really could play, back in the golden age of football.
