    Tony Brown
Former West Brom striker on BBC WM 95.6

It's strange sitting here and saying there's no atmosphere for a local derby.

Overall it's been even, both sides have had good chances, Albion look like they will score on the break but it's all to play for.

  2. 'Blues have been solidpublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

Albion have got pace and look good on the break but Blues have been solid.

Grady Diangana’s injury will be a concern both to West Bromwich Albion and his parent club West Ham United.

It was only this week that speculation first emerged that the young forward might be recalled by the Hammers in the new year, much as happened to Albion a year ago when Harvey Barnes’ equally influential loan at The Hawthorns was cut short.

After going down so sharply, then going off with what looked like a hamstring, his earlier 10th-minute equaliser might yet mark his last appearance in an Albion shirt.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    Birmingham 1-1 West Brom

And there closes an entertaining first half.

Early goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz and Grady Diangana set the game on its way.

Diangana had to go off with a serious looking hamstring injury, before Kristian Pedersen missed a great chance to put Blues in front just before the break.

    Time for a cuppa.

    WHAT A CHANCE!

How are Birmingham not in front?

Jude Bellingham picks out Kristian Pedersen in the box, he's just a few yards from goal but strikes it with his left foot straight at Sam Johnstone who saves.

He HAD to take it with his right.

It's a really strange game, considering it's a derby day there's a really flat atmosphere.

The game has gone really scrappy in the last 10 minutes. Fouls and injuries haven't helped.

He's a tough cookie, is David Davis.

He'll carry on through to half-time.

This doesn't look good for Birmingham midfielder David Davis either.

He turns sharply, but it seems his leg gets stuck in the turf and twists his knee.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 40 mins

    Birmingham 1-1 West Brom

Grady Diangana's game is done. He looks distraught as he makes his way off, I think his hamstring has gone.

Kyle Edwards replaces the West Ham loanee.

This doesn't look good for Baggies goalscorer Grady Diangana.

The winger is down in the Birmingham box clutching his hamstring.

Slaven Bilic has nicked Ahmed Hegazi's cap.

It means the West Brom substitute is now blinded by the low sun.

You wouldn't really want to say no to the boss though, would you?

  13. 'Robson-Kanu should have scored'published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    Birmingham 1-1 West Brom

    Tony Brown
Former West Brom striker on BBC WM 95.6

That's a great ball in from Matt Phillips, an absolute diamond for a striker, Robson-Kanu should have scored.

    Birmingham 1-1 West Brom

Oh dear, West Brom have made a right mess of that.

Matt Phillips bursts clear, Grady Diangana is all alone in the centre of the box but his pass is behind the winger.

Diangana has to put on the breaks and the chance is gone.

Moments later Phillips bends in a beautiful cross, Hal Robson-Kanu gets his head on it but glances the ball wide.

The Baggies really should be in front.

Heart in the mouth stuff from Baggies defender Semi Ajayi.

He plays a backpass to Sam Johnstone, but it hasn't got enough legs. Luckily Johnstone is alert and races forward to clear with Lukas Jutkiewicz closing in.

    Hello!

Birmingham win a free-kick on the right, about 30 yards from goal.

It looks a perfect position to cross into the box, but Jeremie Bela decides to have a go... it's on target and Sam Johnstone punches the ball clear. As you were.

St Andrew’s was vibrant after Lukas Jutkiewicz’s stunning third minute header for Birmingham City.

But the more cautious Blues fans would only know too well not to get too carried away too soon. After all, their side also led in this fixture last season and didn’t win. And they then led twice at The Hawthorns in March and didn’t win that either!

So it was no surprise really that Albion should level so quickly, even if it was a touch fortunate. And all you can hear now is the Baggies fans singing “It’s all gone quiet over there”.

    The confidence of youth!

Jude Bellingham, Blues' 16-year-old midfielder, has a go from 25 yards but it flies over the bar.
