Watford v Manchester United (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

  2. Solskjaer - It'd be great to have Pogba backpublished at 08:03 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2019

    Manchester United

Paul Pogba hasn't played since the end of September as he's been recovering from an ankle injury. He then missed two days' training this week due to illness.

But Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rejected the idea his side had learned to cope without Pogba, saying they missed him in last Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Everton.

"It's games like the Everton one, for example, when you are lacking that one creative pass or idea," said Solskjaer. "He has the quality not many midfielders in the world have, so it would be great to get him back."

Everton v Arsenal (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    The Guardian

Coincidentally, Everton and Arsenal are playing each other on Saturday. And even if the appointments of both Mikel Arteta and Carlo Ancelotti are announced before the game, they won't be ready to take their place in the dugout.

We could therefore have two new managers watching from the stands at Goodison Park on Saturday. That's got to be a first, right?

The 60-year-old is now set to return to the Premier League, with the Times reporting that he will earn £9m a year at Everton.

  7. 'I've never faced a coach as intense as Guardiola'published at 07:36 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2019

Before Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final, our chief football writer Phil McNulty wrote this on Karl Robinson.

The Oxford manager, whose side also faced Manchester City in last season's competition, said: "Pep intrigues me. You can learn from him. I really enjoy his style. I enjoy coaching his style and I enjoy watching it. I have to enjoy the football we're producing in order to enjoy our job and I am sure he is the same.

"What did surprise me was that I had never come up against a coach as intense as him. It was like: 'Wow.' I said to him: 'Come on, do me a favour - we've not touched the ball for 40 minutes and you're asking for a throw in. Can we at least have that?'"
