Bruno Fernandes started off in the number 10 role ahead of Andreas Pereira and Fred, had a few nice touches and played his way into the game. He then swapped with Pereira to sit in central midfield with Fred and tried to dictate play.

He's done OK, he's had a few touches of the ball and looks like he is going to be a very good player.

Carter the Red: We really are boring to watch aren't we. The passing by wolves is so incisive, accurate and quick, ours is lethargic, slow and always behind the player. Bruno started the game running into space and ended the half walking like the rest of them. We broke him already.

Bruno Fernandes finished that half with more touches than any other Manchester United player (58) and he also completed more passes (46).

He also had more shots than his team-mates (three).

    A busy debut.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2020

There's the whistle for half time. Not much to shout about but a steady showing by Bruno Fernandes.

Looks like Adama Traore is OK to continue. I'm surprised he actually felt pain on his shoulder. He's got more muscle there than I have in my entire body.

  6. Postpublished at 43 mins

Concern for Wolves. Adama Traore is down on the ground and looks in some discomfort. He's clutching his shoulder after getting his arm pulled awkwardly by Harry Maguire as the two tussled for the ball.

Ilyas Najib: I remember when Man Utd signed Matic and everyone proclaimed he was the missing link to make Man Utd tick, not even one half of football played yet and Fernandes is already being called the saviour. Calm down, calm down!

Mark: United are really missing Matic today. Since he agreed to stay at OT he has been the old Nemanja, plus him missing means Pereira is in the team.

First shot on target for Manchester United as Luke Shaw's ball runs through to Bruno Fernandes on the edge of the area but his strike is straight at Rui Patricio. A comfortable save, but this has been a decent showing by Manchester United's new signing.

Misunderstanding between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes as a Manchester United attack breaks down in the final third.

Only against Crystal Palace in August (58th minute), have Manchester United had to wait longer for their first shot on target in a Premier League game at Old Trafford this season.

  11. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Adama Traore thunders an effort a yard or so wide of the post as Wolves attack again. The visitors have looked dangerous going forward and have had two shots on target to Manchester United's none.

Jonny goes down inside the Manchester United box under pressure from Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The whistle goes for a foul but it goes in Wan-Bissaka's favour.

  13. CLOSE!published at 32 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Bruno Fernandes has a pocket of space to run into midway inside the Wolves half and, with defenders backing off, he decides to have a go at goal. The shot is powerful but bends just wide.

Good to see him not afraid to have a pop, though.

  14. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Manchester United fans get the chance to respond to the Wolves taunts, though, as Ruben Neves then smashes a free kick high, high over the bar.

  15. Postpublished at 29 mins

Now there's an opportunity for Bruno Fernandes to show what he can do as Manchester United win a free kick 25 yards from goal. Fernandes bends the ball towards the far post but it is over hit and goes behind for a goal kick.

"What a waste of money," chant the away fans...

This is the sixth meeting between these two sides in less than a year.

In the previous five, there have been three wins by a single goal margin and two draws.

Nothing has happened so far to suggest this won't be equally as tight.

Bruno Fernandes is certainly not keeping away from the action. He's had 30 touches of the ball - one fewer than Andreas Pereira, who has had the most.

Robin: Fernandes hasn’t even played an hour of football in England and already looks more comfortable there than Andreas Pereira in midfield. Why he continuously gets picked to play there is bewildering.

At the other end of the pitch, Luke Shaw drives a low ball into the box, it is cut out by Matt Doherty but his clearance is picked up by Harry Maguire, who has another 25-yard screamer in mind. He hits it from distance but this one goes well wide.

  20. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

Diogo Jota is next to test the Manchester United backline as he fires a ball across the face of goal but there's no Wolves player there to meet it. The hosts have a bit of defending to do at the moment.
