Luke: Problem with VAR is that everyone sees it and it can be corrected in the game. Before VAR you could blame ref mistakes, but VAR has all angles to review and yet 2 identical calls are always different. No consistency, yet Liverpool are clearly winning the VAR battle.

David Ljunggren: Newcastle are a rancid pile of garbage right now. They are at home to the bottom team and not even bothering to mail in a performance.

Adam Hopkins Music: It's so depressing to see Newcastle play so defensively at home vs bottom of the league Norwich who are conceding almost 2 goals a game this season. Fair enough vs top 6 and away but here Bruce tactically has to be more positive!!

While goals have been flying in up and down the country, it remains goalless at St James' Park. New signing Danny Rose comes on for Newcastle in the closing stages.

  6. Postpublished at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2020

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Danny Ings has been replaced. The former Liverpool man received a standing ovation from all four sides of Anfield as he walked off. He deserves it - despite the scoreline he has posed Liverpool's defence loads of problems.

Meanwhile, Alex McCarthy makes a smart save to deny Roberto Firmino from making it 4-0.

  7. CLOSE!published at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2020

    Bournemouth 2-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa are really knocking on the door now and Aaron Ramsdale does well to deny both both Keinan Davis and Mbwana Samatta.

Mark Doughty: Craig Pawson is an absolute disgrace of a referee. Never in a million is that a second yellow for Delph.

I was just about to make the point that Salah has been pretty anonymous this second half! Gets put through on goal, one-on-one, and it's a fantastic finish as you expect from him.

I'm a United fan and had to endure years of everyone saying we won because the refs were biased. Especially from all my mates who are Liverpool fans. Funny that.
