Given that the 2 minutes play where we had to wait for VAR was effectively null and void - shouldn't this be included in the added time at the end of the half?

    Richard, Hockley

So VAR takes forever to decide it was a penalty and then can't relay that Lloris was off his line. And with Sterling and De Bruyne on the pitch, Gundogan is the man for the penalty. Bizarre.

    Mike, Viney Hill

If Tottenham had scored in the play before the penalty decision was given would it have been disallowed?

    Darren, Harrogate

Yes, a Spurs goal would have been disallowed

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Hugo Lloris has now saved three of the last four penalties he had faced in the Premier League - with only Norwich City's Teemu Pukki beating him in that run.

No goalkeeper has saved more Premier League penalties since the start of the 2018-19 season. Jordan Pickford and Neil Etheridge also saved three in that period.

Manchester City have missed four of their last six penalties against Lloris - three saves and one hitting the post.

You have got to give credit to Hugo Lloris, he has kept his side in it this half. I wonder though why Sergio Aguero is not taking the penalty. They have obviously got a designated penalty taker and Ilkay Gundogan scored one last week so his confidence should have been up.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Manchester City have failed to score four of the last six penalties they have taken - Gabriel Jesus x2, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan.

Sorry it actually took me three minutes to write all of that down.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Serge Aurier brought down Sergio Aguero in the box but Mike Dean said he won the ball.

Play went on for about two minutes while VAR was checking in the background.

    VAR gives a penalty.

Ilkay Gundogan's penalty is saved by Hugo Lloris (who was off his line but VAR doesn't check for that).

Raheem Sterling goes down from a possible Lloris tackle as he tries to get the rebound.

There is a huge melee as VAR checks whether it is a penalty.

    VAR says no penalty.

Two players are booked for their part in the melee, but Sterling doesn't get one for his dive.

City should score. Raheem Sterling makes a perfect run and cuts the ball back for Sergio Aguero, who shoots wide - albeit under pressure - from two yards out.

Good play by Riyad Mahrez as he hurdles a couple of challenges but the move ends with a Oleksandr Zinchenko shot over from distance.

It has given Spurs confidence. They have thought 'right, City are not invincible and now we have got the crowd behind us, let's go'.

This is the problem with VAR, it just seems to take an absolute age to make a decision and chaos ensues in the meantime. But VAR knows all, so there you go.

    Spurs 0-0 Man City

Spurs do nothing with their corner.

A replay shows Hugo Lloris was well off his line in saving that penalty. But VAR in the Premier League doesn't check for that.

It was almost seven minutes ago they started checking whether that was a penalty (the first one). That was absolute chaos.

Jose Mourinho was telling the referee to show Raheem Sterling a yellow card for diving. I thought at first look it was a penalty.

Mike Dean shows Spurs' Toby Alderweireld a yellow card, walks past Raheem Sterling and then books City's Oleksandr Zinchenko. Presumbaly for their start in the melee.
