    Brighton 0-1 Watford

The home fans are getting restless... Brighton haven't had a sniff.

Which probably means they'll go and score now.

  2. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Brighton 0-1 Watford

Etienne Capoue pinches the ball in midfield and then goes on a directionless run before being shoved in the back and stumbling over in stages. Buying up a bit more time and relieving any pressure Brighton were hoping to build.

Jeff Wah: Tepid stuff from Brighton. Good job Potter has experience of coaching in the Championship - he’ll be back down there next season

Ben again: yep, come on alireza

Well Neal Maupay is the first change. Let's see if he can bring some bite for toothless Brighton.

Right, Graham Potter decides it's time for an attacking change...

Neal Maupay is on for Dan Burn.

It's like a Nigel Pearson-inspired Catenaccio, born and raised on the training fields of Hertfordshire instead of honed in Milan. Giving Brighton absolutely no space to work anything in and around the box.

Ezequiel Schelotto is forced to have a dig from distance, but it zips well wide.

Chris, London: In response to Mike 18:10, there's no need to get rid of the cup replays just look at the fantastic entertainment they gave us this week! The simple fix for the cup replay/winter break debate is that all Premier League teams could have played this weekend and had two weeks off from now, instead of staggering the break to allow some premier league games across both weekends. Simple measures like this will keep the magic of the cup alive!

    Brighton 0-1 Watford

Watford are sitting in their own half and forcing Brighton to try and come up with something.

The hosts are struggling to find a route to goal at the moment. They're yet to stretch Watford.

Ben, a Brighton fan: I am at the match, Duffy has been sloppy and Schelotto has been a bit silly in possession. Webster and Montoya on and a change of formation that allows Montoya to get forward more as he is quick. We need that creative spark.

Sorry Ben but Montoya isn't in the 18. Jahanbaksh to come on and try another overhead kick?

Pascal Gross whips one but Ben Foster comes flying out to clear with a double-fisted punch.

He's gloved that further than I could kick a ball...

Ironic cheers from the home fans as Solly March is fouled on the edge of the box.

Chance for Brighton to deliver here...

Watford keep the ball for a spell and I'm sure Nigel Pearson will enjoy that, taking the sting out of Brighton immediately after the break.

    Right, 45 minutes to go.

Can Watford hold on a move out of the drop zone? Will Brighton stage a comeback?

Paul: Schelotto has been booked. if anything he kicks himself or even kicks deulofeu then falls down. thats a dive. should be a 2nd yellow and off. he tried to con the referee.

Feel like you'd be a very harsh referee, Paul...

    HT: Brighton 0-1 Watford

Gaaahhh, how are we supposed to make sense of such conflicting stats...

Brighton have never won a PL game at home when conceding first - P23 D9 L14 before today.

Watford have lost each of their last two PL games having scored the first goal.

Michael Smith: Do all the questions and complaints about the winter break mean people just don't like change??

    HT: Brighton 0-1 Watford

Getting back into this could be tricky for Brighton.

Only Sheffield Utd (7) and Liverpool (1) have conceded fewer than Watford (9) under Nigel Pearson and only Liverpool (8) have had more clean sheets (Watford = 4).

(They did let a two-goal lead slip to lose 3-2 at home to Everton last time out though).

    Brighton 0-1 Watford

Watford take a lead into the break thanks to Abdoulaye Doucoure's well-taken effort.

Solid first half from the visitors, Brighton really struggling to create anything meaningful.

Leandro Trossard cuts on to his right and will try his luck from distance, but that one's joined Aaron Mooy's earlier effort in the sea. High and wide.

    Brighton 0-1 Watford

Ezequiel Schelotto looks like that lad who rocks up at training for your local side after a year abroad - arms covered in ink, hearty beard, long hair swirling around in the wind.

He looks to scamper on to a loose ball in the Watford box and the Argentine is caught by Gerard Deulofeu as he sizes up a strike, or did he kick his own leg? VAR says no penalty.

Worth a shout, seen them given and all that...
