Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a tight game, a tough game. You wouldn't believe we were at the wrong end table early in game. I was disappointed from that moment onwards that we weren't able to recover after they equalised.

"We had a couple of moments but the second goal was a killer blow.

"You are used to these conditions. The pitch played well but we lost momentum as the game went on."

On Bournemouth's position in the table: "It's not a great position to be in from our perspective. We have some big games and we need some big performances. It's tough when you are not producing results you want but its a challenge I relish."

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is one of only seven English players to have scored 40 Premier League goals since August 2015, the month he made his debut in the competition.

Sheffield United

More from Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to Match of the Day: "We took John Lundstram out - he needed a breather after having a fabulous first half of the season. He had a choice to make. Does he feel sorry for himself or does he contribute to the team?"

On his altercation with Andrew Surman: "I got a little bit frustrated. There were bits and pieces that went on this afternoon. Maybe I need to get used to it a bit more."

On Sheffield United's aims this season: "We have just rolled on and taken the defeats on the chin. We'll keep going. We have 39 points which is fabulous. We want to achieve something this season. We won't take our foot off the gas. Our performance was one of belief and drive. There was a real drive about the players after going a goal down."

Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder: "We were hanging on at times. We grew into the game and I felt a goal was coming. I was delighted to go into the break on level terms.

"We try to build momentum and create pressure. They controlled the game early on but our reaction was great.

"We really went for it in the second half and the belief the boys have is amazing.

"I'm sure when we were coming off our fans were singing that we're safe. We're not there yet but there's no let-up from us. There are no comfortable footballers in our changing room - they all have something to prove.

"I'm a bit controversial in that I'd want to carry on - I'd like it if we had a game next week. But we'll come back refreshed for the next part of the season."

Lys Mousset has been directly involved in more league goals than any other Sheffield United player this season (nine - five goals, four assists).

Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a great comeback. I thought the players grew into game and towards half-time we were creating pressure and momentum.

"I thought we really stepped on the gas in difficult conditions.

"There were some really good performances. Billy Sharp has not had a lot of game-time. He has had to be patient but he's a fantastic leader in the dressing room. I'm delighted for Billy and I'm delighted for the team because we had to work hard against a talented side."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "For the first part of the game we were excellent. Sheffield United made it difficult. The two goals we conceded were hugely disappointing.

"Maybe we lost concentration momentarily and it cost us the match. Generally I thought we did well. We had to battle and scrap but it wasn't to be.

"In both halves we sat in and were good in our structures. When we get the lead in these types of games we need to defend better.

"It takes all the polish off. There were a lot of good bits but not enough to get a result today and we needed it away from home."

Another incredible day for Sheffield United in a truly remarkable season for them.

“Now you’re going to believe us, the Blades are staying up,” chant the home fans after that dramatic victory, sealed seven minutes from time with a great John Lundstram finish after a sublime first touch following good work from fellow substitute and ex-Bournemouth man Lys Mousset.

Fans on all sides of the ground are on their feet applauding their team off.

There’s a dozen league games left for them and objective one for the Blades - staying up - has now surely been achieved with 39 points. But how high can this team now go? They’re two points off fourth-placed Chelsea in a Champions League spot. Europa League? Champions League? The fans will be dreaming, and rightly so.

Dean Henderson made an important save, he did make one or two mistakes though which put this team in trouble.

But you remember saves and it was a stylish one off Ryan Fraser. He is a number of players who did generally quite well today.

You look back on Sam Allardyce taking Bolton into the Europa League, that was amazing, but this would be special for Sheffield United especially in their first season back in the top-flight.

Bournemouth remain two points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.

They're at Burnley next on 22 February before Chelsea at home and Liverpool away - while they still have to visit both Manchester United and Manchester City.

Will they stay up?

The day started with monsoon-like conditions but it's ended in celebration.

Chris Wilder is on the pitch shaking the hand of each and every Sheffield United player. This is a huge win for the Blades. They're up to fifth - two points off the top four.

So close as Nathan Ake connects with a teasing corner but it drops just wide.

Bournemouth have sent on Dominic Solanke to try and salvage a point.

Shortly before the goal, Junior Stanislas was introduced.

Eddie Howe looked crestfallen when that goal went in.
