Anwar El Ghazi's sloppy pass gifts possession to Lucas Moura, who has Son Heung-min to his right in support.

He uses Son's run as a dummy and shifts it onto his left. He waits, trying to find an angle to shoot, before slipping it inside for Dele Alli. His shot is blocked - just.

Villa go straight up the other end but this time, Hugo Lloris comes out to gather.

Temi: Lloris at fault. Had an opportunity to come out and claim it. Expect better from a captain.

Abdhakeem Olayiwola: I think Winks should be playing the holding midfield role for English national team. Henderson, may have improved over time, however certainly doesn't have Winks' technical skills...

Rachel T: Bit of a narky start to this game. Is it the weather?

  9. 'Really poor defending'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2020

    Aston Villa 1-0 Tottenham

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    It's poor defending.

Toby Alderweireld hasn't been himself all season and it's not good enough. It's poor defending - he has to go and meet the ball. He's waited for it to bounce and he's miscued it. It's really poor.

    Toby Alderweireld (own goal)

Anwar El Ghazi swings a decent ball in from the right but there's no real pressure from Mbwana Samatta on Toby Alderweireld, who is first to the ball.

He just needs to clear it but ends up poking it into his own net.

    Nightmare.

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The game's only just started - why's Serge Aurier making stupid challenges like that? He's got to use his brain.

Jack Grealish is clever, he'll always go down from contact like that.

Serge Aurier is penalised for another foul on Jack Grealish. Martin Atkinson will have a word with him...

It's a big game for Tottenham today and they've got another big one on Wednesday in the Champions League, but the Man City result will give them confidence.

  18. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Lively start!

Matt Targett tries to create something on the edge of the Spurs box but it's a heavy touch from Danny Drinkwater and Tottenham break quickly.

Son Heung-min races away down the left, cuts inside and Ezri Konsa makes a brilliant crunching tackle. Son has felt it!

  19. 'See the effect of Jose'published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2020

    Aston Villa 0-0 Tottenham

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Over the past few games you can see the effect Jose Mourinho has had on this team.

They're in with a chance of making the Champions League now, they've got a lot of good attacking players even without Harry Kane.

I think the win over Man City will have given the whole squad a massive lift.
