What on earth is Aubameyang doing at Arsenal? Lethal striker, in his prime who should be leading the line of a champions league top contender club.

    Finally!

And that has woken the crowd up too.

Wasn't a great cross from Nicolas Pepe but a solid header planted in by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

  4. 'Free header for Aubameyang'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2020

    Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

We talked about moving the ball quicker and that's exactly what they do. Nicolas Pepe chips it towards the back post and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can't believe how much space he has at the back post.

It's a free header and he puts it away well.

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Brilliant header from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a lovely ball in from Nicolas Pepe.

Pepe just curls it over to the back post and Aubameyang gets there ahead of the defenders and nods it into the bottom right corner.

What rubbish to suggest Arteta is not up to it. The club is in this trouble because of those so called supporters. Go to Spurs or belt up.

    Michael

Silvio De Fede and others talking nonsense about Arteta. Bloke's been in charge 10 games and people are expecting miracles.

The ball hits the ref so he stops play and gives an uncontested drop ball to Newcastle. Their possession doesn't last long though, as it rolls through to Bernd Leno.

Rob Alderman: Norwich and Villa far more entertaining to watch than Burnley, Palace and Newcastle combined. Shame they're not being rewarded for their adventurous approach.

Hector Bellerin almost gets through on the right but Allan Saint-Maximin does well to scoop it away.

Bukayo Saka's cross from the left is then straight into the arms of Martin Dubravka. This is a bit better from Arsenal, they have picked up the pace a little.

    Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Brilliant, intricate play by Mesut Ozil and Nicolas Pepe to create the chance for Eddie Nketiah and it's a no-look shot from him that just shaves the bar. Very unlucky.

Granit Xhaka's ball goes through three players in the box before it comes out to Hector Bellerin on the right.

He tries to ping it back into the middle but it's headed away. Dani Ceballos then does the same before Pepe sets up Eddie Nketiah.

He hits it first time but glances the top of the crossbar from six yards out. What a chance!

Silvio De Fede: Arsenal need a true manager at the start of the next season. Arteta isn't worth it and it is pretty clear already.

Lovely ball from Dani Ceballos, who sees the run of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through the middle.

The striker can't bring it under control and ends up poking it wide. That would have been something special!

Stephen Brogarth: Arteta has had so much press coverage this week about his influence and positive changes to Arsenal. Well they look bang average to me. If this is the Arteta way arsenal fans will turn on him early next season.

Imti Jamir: Arsenal need an experienced player to finish the final third ball. Bring on Lacazette.

I'd like to see Gabriel Martinelli introduced sooner rather than later.

I think his direct style can help Arsenal open up Newcastle's backline.
