    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Remarkable from Eric Bailly on his first start of the season, Pedro finds Michy Batshuayi inside the area and the United defender takes it off him and then beats two men with a Cruyff turn about eight yards from his own goal and then clears away. Champagne centre-halfing.

Big call. I have to say my initial reaction was that Willian was looking for it.

There is contact but is there enough contact from Fernandes? I don't think so. Willian is better than that.

  3. CLOSE!published at 37 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Another neat touch from Bruno Fernandes sends Anthony Martial into space down the left, he never looks too happy in that channel but gets a shot off and it squirms wide of the target.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 35 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Chelsea want a penalty, Willian gets a booking for a dive! Ref Anthony Taylor was right on that as the Brazilian went past Bruno Fernandes...

It was outside the area anyway but Willian was definitely looking for that.

Chelsea seeing plenty of the ball but it's all 40-ish yards from the United goal. Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount finding some nice angles but every time they get close to goal it breaks down. Good defending from Eric Bailly puts it out for a corner.

Sam Hartles: Why isn’t Bruno Fernandes taking our corners?? He’s a set piece specialist yet Fred is taking the corners and they’ve all been terrible so far. Baffling.

Nathan: I haven’t witnessed Man United drop in a decent corner since 2016.

    Shoooottttttt......

This is Bruno Fernandes' game. Brandon Williams rolls a square ball into the Portuguese's path about 22 yards out, he takes aim and tonks it well wide. A sighter?

  8. Chelsea still lacking a finishpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard's constant gripe this season has been his side's failure to provide end product to all their possession and approach work.

Michy Batshuayi just provided a classic example with that poor finish.

Harry Maguire, meanwhile, is incredibly lucky to escape punishment for raising boot and catching Batshuayi "amidships" as the polite used to put it.

Very fortunate to get away with that.

Maguire is a lucky boy. Should have been red.

I think there will be a lot of talk about the Harry Maguire incident, shall we call it. Was it a red card offence or wasn't it? Did he need to stick his foot out and up? Did he kick out? - he did catch Batshuayi.

How can that not be a red card for Maguire? VAR sent off Son for far less earlier in the season. Have the rules changed since then?

Chelsea look good in the middle third with Kovacic and Mount - but when they come forwards they've got nothing.

  13. CLOSE!published at 26 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

And that's why Michy Batshuayi doesn't start many games...

Should be 1-0 as Mason Mount is played in down the left, lovely pass to send him in, he looks up and finds the Belgian around the penalty spot, the crowd are on their feet and he sidefoots it wide.

Got to hit the target! At the very, very least.

No shots on target yet - Manchester United with 58% of the ball so far.

Well played Toni Rudiger! Drives forwards from defence and crosses in with his left foot, Harry Maguire has to stretch to nod it away.

From the corner Michy Batshuayi has a chance but Willian's pull-back is behind him and the chance is gone.

Both sides have been sloppy in possession but there's a good tempo to the game.

Harry Maguire clears the ball down the line and inadvertently catches Michy Batshuayi. Oooohhh I tell you what that's pretty nasty actually.

VAR say no red card but that was a kick in the, er, well you know where.

Chelsea can get some joy down the flanks tonight. Get some two on one situations and move the ball quickly.
