Good few minutes for the visitors but Chelsea now attack down their left - Pedro gets the better of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and cuts it back but Willian can't get there.

Manchester United will be trying to get Bruno Fernandes on the ball. United are playing with those split strikers, on the half turn and then try and use the pace of Martial and Daniel James in behind that Chelsea back line.

A foul throw from Brandon Williams! My old PE teacher would have done his nut. Fine him.

Daniel James then puts in a good cross from the left but there's no centre-forward in there to prod it home. He's in Milan, watching this in his lounge with Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez.

  4. Kovacic making early impressionpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Manchester United are failing to deal with the threat of Mateo Kovacic. He has eased through central midfield on a couple of occasions now. Cause for concern for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Big blow for Chelsea to lose N'Golo Kante so early but an opportunity for Mason Mount.

The first we've seen of Bruno Fernandes as he drives into the area and lays it back for Fred, his toe poke is charged down and it's away for a corner which Chelsea clear away.

  6. SUBSTITUTION - Kante injuredpublished at 11 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

That's N'Golo Kante done. He limps off and on comes Mason Mount. Does this little break cause more injuries than it prevents?

This looks like bad news - N'Golo Kante is down off the ball and needs treatment. Didn't see a challenge on him. Frank Lampard rubs his head with concern.

  8. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Close again and Mateo Kovacic causing chaos again. Nobody in that United midfield can deal with him, again he feeds it out wide to the right and Willian curls over from 20-odd yards.

It was a really decent strike by Reece James. It was a powerful run by Mateo Kovacic down the left-hand side. It was inches wide by James, not far away at all.

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

United win a corner, Harry Maguire heads down but Chelsea clear and a lovely turn from Michy Batshuayi threatens to spring a counter attack but it breaks down on the right wing. Warming up.

  11. CLOSE!published at 6 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Cracking play! Mateo Kovacic starts it with a driving run through the midfield, he then picks out Reece James on the right of the box. One touch on the chest and a hit, powerfully struck towards the bottom corner and David de Gea is relieved to see it skim inches wide of the target.

Great technique from the former Wigan loanee.

Four minutes in and already at least four misplaced passes, unforced errors. The greatest league in the world you know. David de Gea hoofs the ball clean out of play.

So much at stake for both sides tonight. I think Chelsea have been OK during the season so far but they'll want to cement that Champions League spot.

Chelsea look to piece together a neat move on the left but it ends with N'Golo Kante losing the ball, before Eric Bailly is stripped of the ball by a pressing Pedro.

Seth: I blame the media for giving relevance to Mino Raiola! Most importantly Fergie's decision of allowing Pogba to leave the club because of his agent has been vindicated! Raiola is putting Pogba in a difficult situation and I sympathise with Pogba.

Statements like the one Mino Raiola has just put out is part of the problem with Paul Pogba.

I hear people saying 'Pogba is a nuisance in the dressing room' but he's not, he's a diamond of a guy. I've known him for 12 years and it's his agent that's causing all these problems.

Poga hasn't come out and said he doesn't want to play for Manchester United, he's done nothing wrong.

Nemanja Matic is having plenty of handshakes with old friends in the tunnel as David de Gea says hello to the Spanish lads in the Chelsea team. All very civil.
