Angus Robb: The system Spurs have been trying just doesn't suit Dele. He could also do with a rest. He'll be a key player for Spurs going forward, 100%, but we need defensive midfielders bringing the ball into the attacking 3rd, and if Ndombele is fit, he must start. Big if.

Mark Smith: With both teams playing wing backs, this game will be decided by which set of wide players push the other back. This formation never works for Spurs when they get pushed into a back 5.

  5. Lawro predicts...published at 11:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Chelsea v Tottenham (12:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

I am going with Chelsea here.Their win at Tottenham before Christmas was one of Frank Lampard's best moments as Blues boss, and I think he will do the double and take another three points off Jose Mourinho on Saturday.

It is always interesting whenever Mourinho goes back to Stamford Bridge, but I don't think this will be a happy return for him.

He is running out of options up front because of the amount of injuries Spurs have had, and I just cannot see them causing Chelsea many problems.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

  6. 'Worrying performances'published at 11:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Kieron Dyer

Jose Mourinho has been getting results but the performances haven't been great. He was 10 points behind Chelsea when he got the job and now the gap is one point.

The results are coming but the performances have been worrying and it came to a head on Wednesday with the Champions League defeat.

Jose Mourinho is a winner. Not doing what he is used to doing, I expect him to be a little bit sour. It's most probably hurting him that he's not where he wants to be but he's that type of man who will go out and show people what he is capable of.

If anybody is going to help Spurs win silverware then it will be him.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Dele Alli showed his frustration when he slammed his boots down after being substituted in Spurs' Champions League loss at home to RB Leipzig.

He will be even more frustrated now as he has been dropped by manager Jose Mourinho for this vital clash at Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard pulled off a surprise by playing three at the back in the win at Spurs in December and he has gone for the same today.

He has made some other significant alterations with starts for striker Olivier Giroud and Ross Barkley.

Jan Vertonghen, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele are in, Serge Aurier, Eric Dier, Dele Alli all drop to the bench, with Son Heung-min out with a fractured arm.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Winks, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Moura, Ndombele, Davies, Tanganga.

  11. 'Alli sacrifices so much for team'published at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Chelsea v Tottenham (12:30 GMT)

    Kieron Dyer
Former England and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Every time Tottenham have a bad spell or a bad game, Dele Alli always gets the most stick.

For example, if Harry Kane has a bad game it's because the team isn't creating the chances for him.

People must realise Alli is a player who gets on the end of things. He's like a striker. When strikers don't play well it's because they haven't been given chances and its the same with Alli.

He sacrifices so much for the team. Nobody runs as much as him. James Milner gets commended for it - Alli runs more than Milner.

Which player would you FaceTime to tempt out of retirement?

Finn Kidd: I would definitely facetime Gary Lineker. Him and Vardy would be a deadly combo for the Foxes.

RSen: Has to be the phenomenon Ronaldo. Just having that name on the teamsheet would send shivers down the spine. I'm also partial to a bit of Teddy or the legend that is Jurgen Klinsmann!

Travelling Monkey: I'd FaceTime Bielsa, asking how his PL team research is going, I can just see his new PowerPoint presentation - better asking him than Garry Monk, he and Wednesday have made a right pot-bellied pigs tail of promotion so far (nowt new though is it).

  13. 'When I do it, it is always a big story'published at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

    Chelsea v Tottenham (12:30 GMT)

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to BT Sport: "I cannot demand more than I do every game. Which is to give everything they can give. We have had only two days to prepare for the game and we prepared the best we could.

"As I was more than expecting they play with this system. We prepared ourselves tactically for that and with what we have available we are going to fight for the points.

On Dele Alli on the bench: "I am not sure if you ask every manager in the Premier League when a player is left out. For other managers it looks like it is normal to leave players out and when I do it it is always a big story."

A potentially pivotal return to where it all began in England for Jose Mourinho.

The 'In-form One' is back at the Bridge, where another of his former clubs has already been victorious this week.

Only Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have picked up more Premier League points since Mourinho began work in north London. It's also worth noting Frank Lampard has earned 11 fewer during that period. Now they go head-to-head with just a place and point between them.

The Spurs boss was bemoaning his lack of options after their midweek Champions League defeat, while his opposite number is searching for a formula after a run of just one league win in six games.

Peter Crouch claims he received an unexpected FaceTime call this week - from Jose Mourinho asking him to come out of retirement and help solve his striker crisis!

"My initial thought was that it was my wife Abbey, who had gone to the Brits," Crouch wrote in his Daily Mail column., external

"I assumed it was her showing me what she was going to wear for the ceremony. But when I answered, it wasn't Abbey staring back from the other end, it was Mourinho, sitting in his office with a glint in his eye.

    'Are you ready, then?'

"Jose was laughing now — almost as much as I was. 'Peter! Come on! We need you! We need you!'"
