Italy's 3-0 victory over Turkey is the biggest margin of victory in the opening match at a European Championship tournament.

For a long time it looked like we would be lucky if we got a goal.

Italy were impressive in everything they did, not only with the ball but without it too. Going in threes and fours, they were too good and too quick.

Turkey ran out of ideas and Italy's passing was crisp, they had an energy about the game.

Turkey were made to look very average by a very good Italy side.

It will make people sit and stand up, if you play against Italy you will have to do well.

There will be tougher tests that lie ahead but they dealt with Turkey emphatically.

This will wake up a few people if they had any doubts about Italy.

Turkey capitulated in the second half but its a statement from Italy in the Stadio Olimpico. Really impressive performance. They gathered momentum they've had in recent times under Roberto Mancini. The own goal got them off the mark and then Immobile, his first goal in tournament football crucial for him, and then Insigne's incisive finish towards the end. They blew Turkey away. What a performance from Italy.

Simon Atkins: When thinking who would win this year, I didn't really consider Italy. Watching tonight, I forget how good their team is everywhere. They've got a very strong team, and a very good chance of going all the way, especially based on tonight's performance.

It took a while for Italy to break down Turkey but once they did, the goals flowed and they start Euro 2020 with a dominant win.

Nine wins in a row without conceding for Italy. They are looking impressive!

Giorgio Chiellini does his part in ensuring Italy's impressive run of clean sheets is set to continue as he blocks Burak Yilmaz's effort.

Into the first of three minutes added on as Italy cruise towards an opening game win that will certainly make some of the other Euro 2020 hopefuls take notice.

And another booking, this time for Turkey's Halil Dervisoglu as he goes in late on Nicolò Barella.

Caglar Soyuncu picks up the first yellow card of Euro 2020 for a challenge on Federico Bernardeschi. There wasn't much in it but I think the referee decided it was time to penalise the Leicester defender after a couple of niggly incidents.

Turkey haven't been able to get up the pitch because they haven't got any pace in their team. How brave are Wales going to be? Italy are a team full of confidence. Can you say the same about Wales? Will they be brave? If they do, I think they would stand a good chance based on the evidence we've seen tonight.

This was the goal that put the game out of Turkey's reach before Lorenzo Insigne rounded it off with a third.

George Ruddell: Azzurri have been outstanding against Turkey tonight. Fluent, patient, passing football and a clinical finish by Immobile for the second goal. Italy will be tough to beat in Euro 2020.

Willem Mevius: Impressive game by Italy, but still you have the feeling that they might struggle at the back if they get put under pressure. Would need to be a pretty good team to do so though. Not Turkey.

Paul Garnett: You have to praise Mancini for how he's turned the Italian national team around...failed to qualify for the WC and now look a positive and energetic team who could cause problems through the tournament.

There's some glum looking faces among the Turkey fans. They will have been quietly optimistic that their side could cause an upset at this tournament but they've been second best all over to Italy.
