    Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Good luck, game. That will take some beating.

Fireworks, giant coloured balls, drummers suspended from ropes from the roof of the stadium as the competing nations' flags are unfurled to some sort of synth rock soundtrack.

    This is already sensational.

A boost for Spain as Diego Llorente returns to the squad after returning a negative coronavirus test.

Leeds' Llorente and captain Sergio Busquets tested positive earlier this week, which led to Spain's Under-21 squad playing their friendly against Lithuania on Tuesday, winning 4-0.

Spain play Sweden in their Euro 2020 opener on Monday.

    Alan Shearer

When you look at the young talent, there is a good mix with experience and those Gareth Southgate has worked with.

Football and England can unite the country, can bring everyone back together. We did not get off to a good start in 1996 but got on a roll after beating the Netherlands.

This England team can do that, it becomes difficult if they get out of the group but if they are going to win it they have to beat someone like a France, Belgium or Italy.

  13. National Orchestra of Wales wish team Euros luckpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

Wales are in the same group as Italy and Turkey and they kick off their tournament tomorrow against Switzerland (14:00 BST).

Welsh fans have been singing their hearts out with BBC National Orchestra of Wales in support of their team. Watch above.

  14. 'Turkey are no walkover'published at 19:21 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Turkey v Italy (20:00 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Turkey striker Burak Yilmaz, I was watching his clips all afternoon. He has right foot, left foot, he takes penalties and free-kicks. He's 35 years of age and it's almost like he's at the start of his career not towards the end.

Turkey are no walkover. They've got champions in that side. They've got Soyuncu who's very good at Leicetser as well. International football is completely different. It's very slow and a moment of brilliance or a set piece can win a game and this will be a very tight game tonight.

Turkey and Italy fans are mingling, there are smiles everywhere and huge roars already just for the goals scored in qualifying being shown on the big screen inside the stadium.

After the last year, everyone is determined to enjoy every second of this and it is superb to see.

  16. 'Turkey as an outside bet'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Turkey v Italy (20:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

France are favourites, they have an outstanding squad but there are arguments for Belgium too.

Italy will be strong, winning their last eight without conceding, but as an outside bet you can look at Turkey who are playing tonight.

  17. 'Turkey can cause Italy problems'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Turkey v Italy (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's so much to look forward to. I think France will win the tournament but I think there are so many teams who are capable of winning it as well.

Turkey haven't been great for so many years. In 2002 they got to the World Cup semi-finals and 2008 the Euros semi-finals. I think they can cause the Italians a few problems this evening. Fascinating tie this.

  18. Turkey the tournament's dark horses?published at 19:14 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Turkey v Italy (20:00 BST)

Turkey finished third at the 2002 World Cup and they are looking good to spring a surprise at this summer's Euros.

They have an impressive combination of being extremely solid at the back, coupled with the tools in attack to cause many a team a few problems.

Turkey conceded only three goals in 10 games in qualifying - the joint-best defensive record alongside Belgium - and Premier League fans need no introduction to Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu.

In attack, Burak Yilmaz has enjoyed prolific form at club level, scoring 16 goals in 28 games to help Lille to win the Ligue 1 title.

  19. 'I'm ecstatic'published at 19:14 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Turkey v Italy (20:00 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former Man City defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I'm ecstatic. I cant wait. I've been waiting for this after the long, hard year of Covid. Everyone is going to come together for this tournament. I absolutely can't wait.

Darren Walsh: Nothing like the excitement and anticipation at the beginning of a tournament, great memories just waiting to be made.

James Duckworth: At long last!! Cannot wait for this tournament! A summer of football is always special whether it be a European Championship or World Cup. Belting opening match in prospect too.

Josh Earl: Fancy there could be an opening game upset here. Turkey are a very good side. My dark horses to go far/do a Greece and win it!
