  1. 'I expected more from Sweden'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

You expect the quality to come from the Spanish team, but you expected a little bit more from Sweden. You expect them to take risks here and there, but they've been very conservative.

At the same time they're being pushed back by a very good and very confident Spain team. They're putting the ball in the box and getting themselves in good areas, but the finishing touches haven't been there.

    FT: Poland 1-2 Slovakia

There's already been one upset in Group E with Slovakia gaining a surprise win over 10-man Poland in St Petersburg.

Milan Skriniar's fine low shot on the turn from the edge of the penalty area secured the three points for Slovakia, a country ranked 36th in the world.

They had taken an early lead when the ball bounced off the post and rebounded in off Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny after a fine run and shot from Robert Mak.

A lovely one-touch move, calmly finished by Karol Linetty, brought the Poles level early in the second half.

But the 62nd-minute dismissal of Poland midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak for a second booking changed the momentum of the match and Skriniar and Slovakia took full advantage seven minutes later.

    Jonas Olsson
Former Sweden defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sweden are sitting deep, they are organised. But in certain areas they need to be more aggressive. It's fine sitting deep but when Spain get near the box you need to show more aggression.

It has been a really good game. Total possession and domination from Spain, they had a great chance. Morata should have scored.

However, there was one golden chance for Sweden and it was Isak.

His shot was deflected by Llorente onto his own post and then into the arms of the goalkeeper.

    I can't believe its still 0-0.

Spain have been dominant but could easily have been 1-0 down after that chance for Alexander Isak. That was a rare move into the Spain box. How will Luis Enrique respond to that 45 minute showing?

Spain have responded strongly since Alexander Isak hit the post. Dani Olmo lets fly and Robin Olsen just about does enough to keep it out.

That was unbelievable. Credit to Isak. He had one chance, it didn't fall for him, he then chopped again, took it past the defender. Took the shot, the ricochet come back and hit the post.

Nathaniel Burton: Are we sure Spain don’t have 14 players on the pitch? They seem to be everywhere.

Sid Dodia: Is Spain playing with 15 men the moment they lose the ball they get it back in no time with quick pressing. Going to be a long day at the office for the swedes.

    Danny Murphy

He tried to place it in the corner and just gets the angle all wrong. It's not a difficult chance for a man of his quality. Morata had time, but there was no conviction in it.

To not hit the target in that position, I think even I would've scored it.

This game has really burst into life!

Now a huge chance for Sweden out of nowhere as young Alexander Isak digs out a shot which hits Marcos Llorente, then the post, and rebounds into the arms of the keeper.

A huge let-off for Spain, who have dominated possession.

I cannot believe he has not scored that! He should be scoring! It is a massive mistake from Danielson.

Morata is in on goal, no-one around him and he tries to bend it in the corner. Doesn't even hit the target. It should be 1-0!

    That should be 1-0!

An error at the back by Marcus Danielson lets in Alvaro Morata who only has the keeper to beat but he puts it wide.

He time and space to pick his spot but failed to get it on target.

    How costly could that be?

  19. 'Sweden are too tired on turnovers'published at 20:37 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

The problem is when you're working so hard off the ball, when you get a turnover the fatigue kicks in and you can't see any options because you're so tired from running around chasing the ball.

I think where their opportunity has to come from is when the ball is out of play, goal kick or a free kick. When there's a restart then get the front players up high. push the midfield up and try to get some second balls. They haven't done that once in the game.

For all their good work, this is going to go down as a frustrating half for Spain unless they can find the net in the next 10 minutes or so.

The effort is certainly there. Sadly the finishing hasn't been great.
