One of Spinazzola's strengths is that he loves to go both ways. Although he's right footed he doesn't mind going on his left and he's capable of putting good quality in as well. Horrible to defend against. Sometimes you need to double up, you need help from the man in front of you and good communication.

    .

It might be goalless but this is certainly not boring!

Six attempts in the opening 20 minutes for Italy - two on target, one off target and three blocked!

Jorginho is having a busy old game. The Chelsea player has attempted 19 passes - and completed 18 of them.

Austria (right graphic) have yet to touch the ball inside Italy's box.

When Italy are in comfortable possession their formation changes from a 4-2-3-1 to a 3-2-5 and throw bodies forward. Very un-Italian like you could say, their set up to play.

Nicely done. Austria keep their cool and move it quickly out from the back as Italy press to win the ball back.

Eventually the Italian do get it back though, winning a throw-in near the left touchline.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo fizzes it into Nicolo Barella and he tries to flick it inside but it doesn't come off.

Jorginho then gives away a free-kick as Austria try to break.

Ooh Itally need to be careful.

Just as they have started to create some big chances, it's one ball over the top which catches them out.

Marko Arnautovic sneaks in behind and hits it early on the half-volley but it flies just over the bar. Dangerous!

Best chance of the match. Spinazzola again getting down that left hand side. They are struggling to cope with him.

  9. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Italy 0-0 Austria

Leonardo Spinazzola is running the show.

He's dominating it on the left. A quick stepover, turn of pace and he's away.

He cuts it back into the middle, Nicolò Barella hits it first time with the outside of his boot but it's a decent save from the keeper.

    Best chance so far!

Tom Gregory: With the players England have they should be playing the way Italy do. Always looking to play forward, dynamic football and unafraid to take a chance in the final third.

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley Stadium

Good early flow to this game. Italy moving the ball really quickly - although not quick enough for coach Roberto Mancini on one or two occasions. He is a difficult man to please.

Lorenzo Insigne gets on the ball for the first time of note. It's Marco Verratti who lays it off to him on the left.

Insigne has a go himself - despite there being options in the middle - and his effort is straight at the keeper. Not sure the angle was there for him...

Marco Verratti is in the box again waiting to pounce on a cut-back but an Austrian defender nips in just in time.

  16. CLOSE!published at 12 mins

It comes over to Leonardo Spinazzola on the left and he immediately attacks the line.

Marco Verratti then has a shot blocked but he pokes the rebound back into Spinazzola's path and he blasts one over the bar from a tight angle. That got the crowd going!

Austria will be really pleased with this start. I expected them to be more on the back foot but they've shown courage and are trying to get high up the pitch and press Italy at times.

Italy bring it all the way down to walking pace as it's over the head of Christoph Baumgartner.

The Austrians are sitting back now after pressing early on.

    Italy 0-0 Austria

Christoph Baumgartner cuts inside off the left for Austria and tries to dink it into the middle but it's blocked.

Stefan Lainer then pokes one down the line for Konrad Laimer but again, he's beaten to it.

    Italy 0-0 Austria

Italy are quickly settling into this.

Nicolò Barella slides it through for Ciro Immobile to chase but Austria keeper Daniel Bachmann is out sharply to get there first.

He's not happy though. Immobile slides in knowing he won't get there and the keeper takes a hit.
