Robert: Should be a red card, lucky England.
Steve: Goretzka fouled Rice, scandalous. He deliberately put his leg very wide.

He did well Declan Rice. He made up for the mistake. It's a big block and it's the first big moment really in the game.

Blocked!
Kai Havertz hits it but it hits the boot of Declan Rice and deflects away.
Aaaaand breathe.

Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live
That whole passage of play was because Havertz or Muller have dropped into that little pocket of space and nobody out the back three is knowing where to go or press so they are being too tentative and dropping off.
Jordan Pickford now is going absolutely beserk at his back three.

Its exactly the situation you've got to be careful of. They're asking for more, I don't think it's any more than just a foul. He's asking for a red card, there's no way it's a red card. It's clearly outside the box.
England 0-0 Germany
For a second, Timo Werner looks like he may be away. But out comes Jordan Pickford to smash the ball clear.
Seconds later, Leon Gortezka is away and is fouled on the edge of the box for a dangerous free-kick and a yellow for Declan Rice.
Don't like the look of this...

Can't afford to have the ball pinched in the middle. Declan Rice is tackled and for a moment England look vulnerable until they are able to rally.

Germany are seeing a lot of the ball. England committed to the chase and tackles, though.

Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live
England look quite nervous at the start and tried to press for the first couple of minutes and didn't get any joy. Now Germany have the possession, they look so relaxed the Germans. England look quite tense

Jordan Pickford is asking for a little bit more from his players. He'll feel better after dealing with his first strike on goal there. It's a weak effort from Goretzka way out.
England 0-0 Germany
Germany stay on the front foot, but Leon Goretzka's shot trickles through to Jordan Pickford.
Need to watch Goretzka. He scored the goal that brought Germany here. He also transformed them when he came on. Good player.
England 0-0 Germany
Walker is involved again. Twice. He diverts away the corner and then also a second cross.
The initial German attack came from them beating that England press. Need to be tighter.
England 0-0 Germany
Germany win a corner from their first attack. Kyle Walker heads Joshua Kimmich's cross behind.

The atmosphere inside this stadium is absolutely electric. It's down to these players to control their emotions and go out onto the pitch and perform like we see them do week in week out with their clubs. Yes, it's a different system, but they are more than capable.

Headed away. Luke Shaw takes, a German head meets it.

The first big cheer, as Thomas Muller pushes over Harry Maguire in the German half.
Chance to deliver...
