  10. 'England have to click going forward'published at 16:54 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

I want us to play on the front foot. I want is to be brave. I want us to come out and excite this crowd. They haven't quite clicked yet going forward and that has to change and what better time for that to change than now.

  13. 'Southgate has been a revelation'published at 16:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Since Gareth Southgate has come to the squad he has been a revelation. He's been excellent, the way he speaks, the way he handles himself. He has had to discipline players but he doesn't hold it against them, he gives everyone another chance.

You can that see that in the group, in the way that they play. But I think Southgate is a class act and he doesn't want the players to make it about him because he's not that sort of person.

  14. 'England need to exploit Germany's high line'published at 16:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

Because Germany are so brave and they do commit men forward, that inevitably means they leave space in behind and they do play a high line. They've conceded five goals already and that's because they over commit and leave spaces in behind their wing-backs and that's what our players are going to have to exploit today. They play a high line and aren't blessed with pace so there will be opportunities for England if they are brave and get men forward.

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Saka is fearless at the moment, he hasn't got time to think what it is all about, he just goes out and plays his game. I can only relate that to 1990 with Gazza.

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England looked really calm and relaxed. When I was watching them close up, the players are just treating it like another game by the looks of it.

But the atmosphere is electric behind me, the fans are getting closer and closer, you can hear it! Its getting good now!
