Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has been the catalyst for England's improvement. He showed he was fearless by getting on the ball, taking people on and now England are playing with a lot more conviction.

The ball from Phillips is beautiful. Just clips it into that channel. Once it comes in to Harry Maguire you think go on, get your head on that. He didn't quite believe it was a chance. Really good signs though from the team. They're starting to really get into this game.

The corner is cleared but England come again and Kieran Trippier plants a cross on the head of Harry Maguire. It was there to attack but he tamely nods it wide.

Oh, that was a teaser. Raheem Sterling looked to be in prime position to meet a Kieran Trippier free-kick but Joshua Kimmich's head glances it behind.

He's all over him. He's dragged Luke Shaw's shirt. I think he's probably got that yellow card for talking too much in the end. Now this is a better angle for Kieran Trippier. He's got to be thinking far post. Whip it with as much pace as he can.

That unmistakable murmur of nervous energy is a constant at Wembley.

So much tension in need of a release.

Another Germany foul, this time on Luke Shaw, draws a free-kick and a yellow to Matthias Ginter.

That is him out of the quarters. But we won't think about that.

In fairness to the players, after the first 10 minutes when it looked a bit edgy and they struggled to settle into the game, they've looked a lot better since. They've rode the energy within the stadium. It's been lively and the players have responded to that.

Luke Shaw delivers and John Stones rises to meet it but again Germany smuggle the ball to safety.

We're dealing in half-chances and possibilities at the moment.

The passes are crisper, the movement better. England win another free-kick in the German half as the impressive Bukayo Saka is tripped.

England starting to get a little bit of possession. John Stones turned to Pickford and told him to calm down.

Credit to Stones he is starting to get on the ball and being brave, starting the build-up from back to front.

What I like about today, Saka and Sterling seem a lot closer to Harry Kane. Because of the width with Trippier and Shaw, it's allowing Sterling to drop into a little pocket and the same for Saka. They're getting a lot of joy with it.

Harry Maguire is all over Thomas Muller. He rises high above the German forward to win a header. Cue big cheers.

Dom: First 10 minutes were dire, but last few have been encouraging. Saka and Sterling looking dangerous.

I like what Bukayo Saka has contributed so far. He's lively. No fear.
