    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

Most things Ukraine do well a lot of it comes from those two [Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko]. Yaremchuk will be dangerous from set pieces. They link up really well so we have to be careful of those two tonight.

    Micah Richards

I would have gone for a Jack Grealish or a Phil Foden today. They can open up doors with their passing.

Ukraine will drop deep, it's very difficult to get into that space in behind.

    Ukraine v England (20:00 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

From England's point of view I think they can be quietly confident. We haven't conceded a goal yet. We've changed formations multiple times and it's worked.

I believe if everyone turns up today, England should have too much for Ukraine.

BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter

There's a large number of Ukraine fans high up to our left hand side.

There's a sizable Ukraine community in Rome. But there's also a lot of England fans in tonight too. The England players got a standing ovation when they went out to warm up.

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

With what we've seen so far from England in the tournament why shouldn't we be confident?

Coming down from the elation of Wembley, the players will have to overcome that leggy feeling and take this game in their stride.

    Ukraine v England (20:00 BST)

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Where Jadon plays, Foden, Rashford, Sterling, Saka, Grealish... That area is the strongest in the team without a doubt. You could put any player in. But Jadon Sancho like Gareth said there, he's playing on the right hand side because he can beat players one v one on the outside, he can go down the outside and cross the ball and those are the areas where he probably sees a weakness in this Ukraine sees. This kid won't be fazed. Yes there'll be pressure, but this kid wants to live under pressure.

Jadon Sancho's going to get round the back. He has a lot of talent.

You just hope he takes people on. He's in the team to create and have a go at people.

I haven't seen that from Sancho in an England shirt so far.

  16. 'Grealish can impact off bench'published at 19:16 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    Ukraine v England (20:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

What a week it has been for Jadon Sancho, signing for Manchester United. He is coming off the back of an excellent season with 16 goals and got plenty of assists. Gareth Southgate knows what he can do.

Perhaps Gareth doesn't trust Jack Grealish defensively and he is proving he can come and do damage when teams are on their last legs.

Gareth is looking along the line of his bench and seeing Grealish and seeing Phil Foden and can say 'go on fresh and cause some damage'.

  17. 'Sancho can make an impact'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

Ukraine v England (Saturday, 20:00 BST)

    England

Gareth Southgate, speaking to BBC Sport: "It looks like Ukraine are going to have five at the back.

"It's been a huge challenge for all our attacking players because we have got so much depth. We can't keep everyone happy but Jadon Sancho's profile for this game - we need one-versus-one specialists - he has got that ability.

"The Stadio Olimpico is a brilliant theatre. I think it's been good for us to come away from Wembley but we will find out over the next 90 minutes if that's going to be a deciding factor for us.

"We know the weather forecast is extremely hot. It's a lovely night for football.

"Ukraine have had a fantastic run and have already gone further than any of their teams in past in the European Championship. We have to be patient at the right times. We need to make short runs and use width to break them down."

This is the first time we're away. That will affect the players. On paper, we're the best side.

But I just feel this Ukraine side have an air of resilience about them.
