Coming into the tournament I said I don't think I've seen a manager handle the media as well as Gareth Southgate has. He's done it with great thought, great conviction, and it's brought the squad behind him. They're very together and that is down to the manager. He drives that continuously.
My agent played in the same youth team as him and said he is someone who from a young age was never ever influenced by other people. He became a great footballer and had a great career through being singled-minded.

Passionate national anthems. England look ready. We're ready. Are you ready?!

Josh Hammond: I don't want to jinx it but this is the first time in a long time that I've actually felt confident about England doing well in a tournament but they can't phone it in or Ukraine WILL punish them. Tonight could be the next step towards something very special.
Hatch: The hope against Germany replaced by confidence against Ukraine, very dangerous

So much of Gareth Southgate's team selection in this tournament has been because of those intricate little details that we don't see.
How is someone performing in training, are they in the right head space?
He feels Jadon Sancho will have a good game, so he's picked him.

You have to have strong convictions. I remember game one against Croatia, everyone had an opinion. We're proud to have him as our manager because of the way he has handled himself and the way he has handled this group of players.

Here they come!
Harry Kane leads England out. West Ham's Andriy Yarmolenko does the same with Ukraine.

We [as strikers] have an obsession with scoring goals. We have a love and demand that we have to score goals. You can't sleep at night with the worry of when you expect the next goal will come. I am expecting a different Harry Kane, a more free Harry Kane. It is amazing what a goal does for you. He would have wanted this game on Wednesday or Thursday because of the way he was feeling.

Raheem Sterling is excellent. I love him as a player. He is an example on the pitch and off the pitch to any young player. He has had tough times but he looks a man. He's a world-class player.

It's going to be important tonight for England to put a marker down.
England have been so on top of the physical battle so far in this tournament.
