This Italy team have completely gone against the grain about what they have done historically. This team has been exciting and been on the front foot. But they are in a little bit of shock at the minute.

Christopher: A lot of strikers would struggle to put that away cleanly, brilliant from a left back

Andy K: I thought England were meant to be the nervous team. Look more like Champions. Italy look petrified every time England go forwards.

Khan Karn: It's coming home! Never been so happy to see a Man Utd player score in my life. (From a Liverpool fan)

Another England corner keeps the pressure on the Italians, who do well to be fair. The team in white look very cool and composed, though. Are we sure this is England?

Looking at the goal again, it's an incredible finish from Luke Shaw. A lot of players would've opened the body for an inside of the foot finish but Shaw just laces it.

There are people who say Luke Shaw is the best left back in the world right now and then there are people who are wrong.

If we pull this off there will be a lot of baby Gareth's in 9 months time

Mark Thompson: Thanks for the motivation Mourinho, Shaw has become a monster!

They are struggling with Harry Kane, he has started this game brilliantly, picking up the ball in little pockets, he goes past his man with a little shimmy.

Kieran Trippier is in acres of space, he must be surprised with the amount of space that he has out there. Italy will have to do something about that quickly.

It was a half-volley rather than a full one from Shaw for the goal. Right finish.

The really encouraging thing is just how dangerous England look going forward. Kieran Trippier almost finds Raheem Sterling in the box, looking to get in amongst the Italian backline.

You could feel Wembley shaking with the celebrations when Luke Shaw's shot hit the back of Italy's net. It's all a bit wild but England and their supporters could not have dreamed of a better start.

And what a superbly fashioned goal.
