Uwe Pleban: Greetings from Germany, I’m old enough to remember the 1966 World Cup final. Best of luck to the England team - may they put 55 years of football trauma to bed once & for all. Hopefully Grealish will get some decent minutes and an assist - he’s on my fantasy team.

Paul David: Dear Italy, You can have the tennis if we can have the football. Grazie.

  3. Keep calm and carry onpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    England 2-1 Denmark (recap)

How would England react to going behind for the first time at the tournament? Would Denmark do the same as Croatia to Southgate's men?

Well, they showed they'd learnt from that World Cup experience as they didn't panic. Raheem Sterling had an effort saved at point blank range by Danish keeper Kasper Schmeichel before England forward Bukayo Saka's low cross was turned into his own net by Simon Kjaer as England equalised.

    England 2-1 Denmark (recap)

England went into the semi-final against Denmark not having conceded a goal at Euro 2020 but that run came to an end in spectacular fashion.

Mikkel Damsgaard picked the ideal time to score the first direct free-kick of the tournament as he sends in a stunning 30-yard strike.

My partner is now one week overdue our first child. She is fed up and doing everything to try and get things moving. I am desperately (and quietly) hoping the little man holds on for another 24 hours. But I am almost certain waters will break at 7:30pm. Double tension is too much to take today.

    Richard

Looks like you are in for quite a few hours, Richard. Wishing you all the best. First words, it's coming home?

  13. 'England have 53.5% chance of winning Euro 2020'published at 15:51 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

Italy v England (Sunday, 20:00 BST)

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote says:

"A final between Italy and England was the second most likely final according to Gracenote's Euro 2020 forecast before the tournament started. As we have said throughout, England's home advantage boosted their chances of going a long way in this tournament and so it has proved. Gracenote's world number six have been boosted to around three in the world by playing at home.

"Italy are ranked third in the world by Gracenote's world football ranking and would be the favourites if this match was being played on neutral ground. However, data tells us that finals do not have the same level of home advantage as other matches in the tournament so England's edge will be lessened on Sunday.

"Even so, England are still favourites on Sunday evening with around 53.5% chance of becoming European Champions for the first time. Italy therefore have 46.5% chance of winning the European Championship for the first time since 1968."

    BBC News

If you're from the Teesside region then you'll probably be aware of the dish called parmo.

If not, well it's well-known locally and it consists of a flattened chicken breast caked in breadcrumbs and topped with béchamel sauce and cheese.

Anyway, a restaurateur so convinced England would bow out said if the Three Lions won he would give out 2,000 free parmos.

While victory could leave him out of pocket he will be cheering England on.

He's sticking to his word so fair play to him.
