    Man City 2-0 Fulham

This is nice from Bobby Reid, who has a little run on his own down the right. He attacks full-back Angelino, weaving in and out as he makes his way into the box.

He gets a yard of space and has a crack - but he's not going to beat Claudio Bravo from there. Fulham will need a few moments of magic like that to get something though.

Again well worked from left to right. Maybe the keeper should have done better. You don't let them score at your near post and the keeper is clearly frustrated with himself, but nevertheless a good finish.

This is Fulham's average positioning so far.

Damage limitation now surely? What a shame. The tie feels over and it's only 21 minutes in!

You've got to press the ball. It doesn't matter that you're down to 10 men. He got the ball in the Fulham penalty area but his shot was his eighth touch, you've got to get close to him. You're asking for trouble if you don't.

It's going to be a long afternoon for Fulham.

  5. goal

GOAL - Man City 2-0 Fulhampublished at 19 mins

    Bernardo Silva

Angelino fires a ball in from the left which David Silva controls really well. He lays it off to Phil Foden, who slides it across the edge of the box to Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese turns sharply and fires an excellent strike towards the bottom right corner. The keeper gets a slight touch on it but not enough.

Brilliant finish. This could get a bit silly.

It's interesting to see Fulham trying to play it out from the back with 10 men. I'm not exactly what I would be trying to do in this situation. You are a goal down and a man down. I think there are times when you could abandon this idealistic view, if you like.

Liz Tray: The Pep trend of playing out from the back is being done by teams who are absolutely not good enough to do it and should stop doing it. Seriously.

Gaz Graham-passmore: It's a pen we all agree. But to send the lad off is a bit harsh. As if it wasn't hard enough Fulham coming to city it's all up hill now for 82mins.

Neil Crick: Jesus clapping the red card was a bit classless.

Michael Hector gives the ball away in the middle and City break with speed. Riyad Mahrez is involved again and he slips it through to Phil Foden on the left.

Foden snatches at it a little and skews his shot into the side-netting from the edge of the box.

The thing with Riyad Mahrez is you know what he is going to do, but you just can't stop it. That's when you know you have got a top class footballer. I'm a big fan of Mahrez.

Bernardo Silva, to David Silva, to Riyad Mahrez, to Phil Foden?

Not quite. Mahrez' drilled cross just misses Foden's outstretched leg by an inch. Lovely football from City!

That red card has definitely killed the game. Fulham are going to need to pull a rabbit out of the hat. City are passing it around like it's a training session.

Riyad Mahrez dances past defender and defender in the box before his shot is saved, then scrambled desperately away.

A good strike from Angelino. Catches it well enough.

David Silva gets away from Michael Hector and slots it into the space for Angelino to run onto. The full-back does and hits it first time - firing it over the bar from long range.

    Decent effort!

It was a penalty - clear as day. I don't know what he's thinking. He knows if he brings him down it is going to be a red card. Terrible decision. Good penalty, nice and calm, wouldn't expect anything less from that man. Fulham now have an absolute mountain to climb.

Really, really silly from Tim Ream. The captain has let his team down there. It's a smart dummy from David Silva, who let the ball run through to Gabriel Jesus but Ream just gets the wrong side and drags him back.

Re 12:53 - It doesn't matter how much they get paid - footballers aren't superhuman. Wouldn't it be better to have less games but of, of higher quality and have a national team which isn't knackered going into major tournaments?
