Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is a threat, isn't he. I am really surprised that he didn't start the game or come on a little bit sooner, even though he played in that cup game a little over 48 hours ago.

    Tranmere 0-6 Man Utd

Tahith Chong is desperate for a goal! He won the penalty and was denied by Scott Davies earlier.

But this is his best effort - cutitng inside off that left wing again and firing it off the crossbar. So close!

  3. Strong benchpublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2020

Liverpool's starting XI in Shropshire have made a combined 38 Premier League starts between them this season - Fabinho making 11 of them.

One for the stats people - when was the last time 6 (or more) players scored for the same team?

    Tranmere 0-6 Man Utd

Brilliant from substitute Rushian Hepburn-Murphy! He weaves inside onto his right foot and curls it. It's flying with pace and almost creeps into the far corner but just skims wide.

    He thought he'd scored!

    Oh dear.

The commentator literally says "this might be memorable" and it probably will be but for the wrong reasons.

Paul Mullin, who has only been on for a few minutes, blasts it into Row Z. It's an awful, awful free-kick. It was like watching BBC Sport's Chris Osborne during 5-aside. Ouch!

Connor Jennings is brought down on the edge of the box by Andreas Pereira. Tranmere will fancy a go here - it's in a very good position.

    Good effort from Jesse Lingard!

He steps inside off the left and curls one towards the far corner. Scott Davies is beaten as he scrambles to get there but it nicks the outside of the post and flies wide.

Andrew Jones: People will say it's only Tranmere, but you have to beat what's in front of you and Utd have struggled to do that in recent years (MK Dons?). They had a ready-made excuse with the state of the pitch as well, but have decided to show up and fight. Lets do it more often lads

    Shrewsbury v Liverpool (17:00 GMT)

The Shrews have been unlucky in that Liverpool defenders Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are fit, so the Reds have put out a similar team to the one that beat Everton in round three, just with a little bit more experience.

    Prediction: 0-2

Mr Companeros: Eleven changes for Liverpool, but that eleven would be good enough to challenge for a Europa place this season given the wobbly knees of any side edging towards mid table. Nailed on for a 2-1 Shrewsbury win then!

I feel sorry for Tranmere. I have been in that situation where I think I was losing 6-0 and you haven't touched the ball, you are just chasing shadows, you are tired, you just want the game to end now.

RegularJon: Yes it is only Tranmere but what’s impressed me is that United haven’t sat on a 2, 3, 4 goal lead. They’ve been looking for more straight after each goal. Easier to get against a lower league side, but we rarely see that these days. Attack attack attack

  19. 'The very, very best'published at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2020

    Shrewsbury v Liverpool (17:00 GMT)

Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts: "Whichever team Liverpool put out there is going to be some great players, no doubting that. But what better experience than to play against the very, very best that are currently head and shoulders above everyone else in the country.

"The problem is, whereas some teams have two or three ways of hurting you, Liverpool have five or six. You have to respect all of them. Nullify them best we can and try to focus on us a little bit and what we do. Our way of playing won't change for this game from any other."
