This is turning into a bit of a mauling. Aston Villa will have to change something. They can't get up the pitch.

Leicester aren't allowing the Villa midfield to play.

There's just no time for Aston Villa on the ball.

A seventh corner of the match for Leicester is played short but Villa are all over it.

Given the chances Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu have already had from corners so far that is a strange decision.

Aston Villa clear their lines and Frederic Guilbert does well to beat Kelechi Iheanacho to the ball in the aftermath.

The pressure is only gone momentarily though, with Iheanacho again charging towards goal - but a poor first touch wastes the opportunity.

How long will Jamie Vardy be given this evening?

Brendan Rodgers was clear before kick-off that the Leicester striker would feature at some point.

Vardy will certainly be itching to get on after seeing some of the opportunities his team-mates have missed so far tonight.

For now, Vardy-less Leicester have another corner...

Villa battle their way back up the pitch but Leicester remain comfortable at the back as the visitors still await their first shot on target.

James Maddison stands over a free-kick a fair way out and whips in a good cross but Jonny Evans sends his header wide of the goal.

Plenty of Leicester pressure for Villa to deal with at the start of the second half.

Frederic Guilbert's lack of pace forced Tyrone Mings to push himself to get back, and he's down in a bit of pain after that burst.

He receives some attention and is able to continue for now.

A good stop by Pepe Reina to begin the second half action!

Kelechi Iheanacho breaks free far too easily as he beats Frederic Guilbert for pace, but fires straight at the Villa goalkeeper who has some making up to do.

Jack Grealish had just 15 touches in that first half for Aston Villa.

The only player who didn't have fewer touches from either side was his goalkeeper, Pepe Reina.

This is not a moment Pepe Reina will want to watch back.

Villa looked nervous with everything into the box. Their stats are the worst in the Premier League for conceding from corners.

They look shaky. They need to sort it out.

I have no idea [what Pepe Reina was doing]. I can't believe he's done that. There's three or four defenders heading back towards goal. He makes Barnes' mind up for him. Rush of blood.

Marc Albrighton now has as many Premier League assists as Muzzy Izzet for Leicester City, with 26.

Only Riyad Mahrez (27), Jamie Vardy (28) and Steve Guppy (34) have more for the club.

Meanwhile, with three goals and one assist, Harvey Barnes has been involved in four goals his last four home Premier League games.

Villa had the better of the opening exchanges and missed two big opportunities. And Leicester grew into the game. But the truth is a horrendous error from Pepe Reina allowed Harvey Barnes to finish. Villa were hanging on, they’re glad for half-time.

Leicester push for a second but that's all for the first half.
