Philip West: City just about deserved that, but Villa certainly played their part. Rodri and Foden were both standouts, and that deadly predator, Aguero, was once again in the right place in the right time to make the breakthrough. Cracking game to watch!

Best cup final I've watched in ages.

Rodri has also been having a chat with Sky Sports: "We know they are a really tough team because they are really tall and strong, so we knew we could never give up. Happy for the team because it's tough being here.

"I think they score because of our mistake. At the end, we suffered a little bit but I think we have enough chances to score more goals, but we are happy for the team. It's the second title for us so we are very happy."

Both sets of players are embracing. Some Villa players hunch on the turf and offer the look of men who have had life sucked from them.

Dean Smith has his hands in his pockets and looks almost like he's in a daze.

Now the Villa team form a circle around Smith and he's leading some kind of talk. There's a lot of pointing going on but it looks like a rallying cry as he's applauded by the group.

Former Aston Villa & Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's what Pep does - he gets it right when he has to get it right. It wasn't vintage from City. Villa did test them on the odd occasion, but when you do get chances against City you have to put them in the back of the net.
