Saka will probably win the Arsenal 100m races by a good few hundredths of a second. Lightning. But even he can't catch a forward pass from Dani Ceballos.

Arsenal's first shot on target of the evening. Bukayo Saka - one of the standout players in recent weeks - uses that electric pace to run at the Pompey defence, shooting low straight at Alex Bass.

His shot is deflected over the bar by Christian Burgess and Arsenal can't make the corner count.

Not a good sight. Lucas Torreira is laid out on the ground and quickly receives attention from the Arsenal medical staff. The Uruguay midfielder is helped onto a stretcher and given oxygen as he is taken away for further treatment.

It's been a very good start. Portsmouth will be delighted with that. They have had good chances. Once they get into Arsenal's final third they get the ball into box, across the face of goal. They're not messing around with it.

That's the sort of challenge where if it happened in the Premier League there would be outrage and probably a VAR check. Lots of force, perhaps excessive.

In Sunday league no-one would bat an eyelid. Neither does Mike Dean.

Lucas Torreira looks to be in a lot of bother, though. Doesn't appear he will play any further part...

Marcus Harness dances down the Pompey left as he tries to shimmy his way into the Arsenal box. The away side have plenty of numbers back though and form a yellow wall which Harness can't break down.

More neat attacking play from the young Guns, striker Eddie Nketiah peeling off to the right flank in acres of space.

However, his delivery doesn't match his movement... a low cross too strong for Gabriel Martinelli.

But Pompey's Ellis Harrison does what you want your near-post man to do - thump it clear with his head.

If Portsmouth leave gaps in between the lines, Arsenal will exploit it. They’ve got to stay tight and close and work together.

They've started well - pushed in and pressed and got after Arsenal. And the fans have responded. If they can keep up like this they'll be fine.

And then they move it forward...

A ball is swung in from the left, nodded back by Ellis Harrison at the far post as Gunners keeper Emiliano Martinez comes flapping.

Luckily for him, Ryan Williams can't turn in and Reiss Nelson boots clear.

Confident start from the hosts, pinging the ball around precisely.
