  1. 'Liverpool will go up the gears'published at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal striker on BBC One

Chelsea will have to keep this up as I am expecting Liverpool to go up a few gears and they do have players to come off the bench.

GOAL - West Brom 0-2 Newcastlepublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Miguel Almiron (45 mins)

This is turning into Miguel Almiron show.

It's another super finish by the Paraguay forward who drills home after a cheeky back-heel by Joelinton who is also having a great game.

It arrives right on the stroke of half-time and there's barely time for West Brom to kick-off. Newcastle are in control!

  6. Postpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Reading 1-1 Sheffield United

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Madejski Stadium

Reading level out of absolutely nowhere and they have been gifted a way back into this tie.

Sheffield United were comfortable in this first half, perhaps too comfortable, until that very innocuous-looking foul on Andy Rinomhota forced Kevin Friend to point to the penalty spot.

    Game back on at 1-1!

  7. Still finely balanced at Stamford Bridgepublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea may have the lead but Liverpool have had plenty of opportunities and are still right in this game.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has distinguished himself in goal for Chelsea and his opposite number Adrian has not.

    Therein lies the difference.

We have seen two performances of note from emerging youngsters - Billy Gilmour for Chelsea and Liverpool's Neco Williams.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    West Brom 0-1 Newcastle

Danny Rose lunges into Matt Phillips and referee Anthony Taylor has seen enough. That's three fouls in a short space of time by the Newcastle defender and he is the first player to be booked in this tie.

Nigel, Battersea: Some half from Billy the kid. What a classy player. Will go right to the very top.

Jen: I swear the real reds are still in madrid tied up in some dank warehouse. these are impostors. #BBCFootball, external

Ant, Birmingham: If Liverpool go out tonight and then to Atletico then the season is poor considering how good we're supposed to be. New faces needed in the summer.

    • McGoldrick 'still coming too deep'published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Reading 0-1 Sheffield United

      Keith Edwards
Ex-Sheffield United striker on BBC Radio Sheffield

McGoldrick's looking more confident - he fancied the shot there. That’s what Sheffield United need from him and that’s what he needs to do.

He’s still coming too deep for me, but that’s McGoldrick. That’s what you get from him.

    • Happy Gilmourpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

      Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle and England striker on BBC One

We see Jorginho and the way he has passed the ball this season for Chelsea, but Gilmour has passed it forward. That has been his first thought. Everything he has done has been spot on. He is so confident, to have that belief in his ability.

    • We're going to Wembley...published at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      West Brom 0-1 Newcastle

      Alistair Magowan
      BBC Sport at The Hawthorns

They've had to wait almost a month for a goal, but the Newcastle fans have deserved that. The tops are off, a purple flare has been lit, and the away end at The Hawthorns is absolutely bouncing.

Nice assist from that man Allan Saint-Maximin as the supporters start singing "We're going to Wembley..."

    • Postpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Reading 0-1 Sheffield United

Almost a second for the Blades as goalscorer David McGoldrick laces one in form the edge of the box - straight at the keeper though.

The games at Reading and at West Brom kicked off at 8pm remember so we've still got 10mins or so left of the first half.

    • Postpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

      Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It absolutely flew by, there was loads of quality.

Liverpool will feel they should have a couple of goals but Willian has looked very dangerous for Chelsea.

Young Billy Gilmour in the middle of the park has been terrific, his all-round game has been fantastic.

He has been tenacious in the tackle and went straight in and nailed Fabinho. At the end of the half, he tracked Sadio Mane all the way and Chelsea fans will feel he has been their player of the half.

    • 'Gilmour has bossed it'published at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

      Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle and England striker on BBC One

A brilliant first half. Two teams intent on attacking. The switch of play has been on for both sides all the time.

Kepa has been in fine form, with a point to prove but the star of the show has been young Gilmour. He has bossed it, he has been absolutely magnificent.

    • 'More of the same for Chelsea'published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

      Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

      Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC One

It's very even. Frank will want more of the same from his side but he will know changes will come from Liverpool.
