Blades boss Chris Wilder saw his team knocked out of the competition by non-league Barnet last season and says that was a harsh lesson for his squad.

"That was a real low point last year," said Wilder.

"I'm looking at my players and they are at it. I'd be surprised if the attitude isn't bang on on Tuesday because we drill it into them all the time.

"If we get beat and Reading have a great one technically or tactically, then that can happen. But mentally and physically we have to show up."

West Bromwich Albion boss Slaven Bilic says the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Newcastle is a good test of his side's Premier League credentials.

The Baggies are top of the Championship with a six-point lead over third-placed Fulham in the automatic promotion race.

"It will be very interesting to see how big the gap is, if anything, in quality," said Bilic.

"The league positions are a little bit closer mentally - we are at the top of the Championship and we have to compete with a team that's in the bottom half of the table in the Premier League.

"They are where we want to be, they are one level higher than us. At the same time, they are a team of strengths and weaknesses. They are not a perfect team.

"But Newcastle are dangerous and it's going to be a good test for us. It will be interesting to see."

    Chelsea v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
    Former Newcastle and England striker

Tammy Abraham has been struggling with this injury for the past four or five weeks but, bearing in mind this is his first season in the Premier League, I have been impressed by what I have seen from him.

After Chelsea's draw with Leicester City at the start of February, I talked about him on Match of the Day, and said how his movement in the box could be better and how he should be more confident on his weaker left foot.

That being said, he is a player who I look at as someone who has all the tools he needs to get to the next level. And he is only 22, so he has got plenty of improvement left in him. I just hope he is back at 100% soon.

Football authorities have held talks with the UK government and public health experts over contingency plans to play matches behind closed doors if the coronavirus outbreak escalates.

One senior football source said such a measure was "a possibility, but weeks rather than days away" and added "for now it is business as usual."

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has said there is no need to panic.

"Let's try to be optimistic," he said. "Let's not think about dark scenarios."

The Football Association and English Football League met the government at short notice at Wembley on Sunday. On Monday, the FA, EFL and Premier League held talks with staff from the country's chief medical officer.

The Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the government was not currently recommending the cancelling of large events unless this was advised by Public Health England. But he has warned there was a "significant risk" of the virus becoming more widespread, meaning further measures might become necessary.

  11. Last night...published at 18:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Portsmouth 0-2 Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said the club's young players are "worth the risk" after his youthful team beat League One Portsmouth at a noisy Fratton Park to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Arteta named a side with six players aged 20 or under and they looked in control, especially in the second half, as they beat a team which had not lost in 19 home games and had won their previous 10.

Pompey played well in the first half but trailed to Sokratis Papastathopoulos' volley from Reiss Nelson's cross just before the break.

Eddie Nketiah bundled home from close range from another Nelson cross to wrap up the victory six minutes after the restart.

West Brom v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

Who needs this win more? A team which has their sights on Premier League promotion or the other which is five points above the relegation zone and is struggling to score a goal in the top-flight?

Concentrating on the league is probably more pleasurable for West Brom than for Newcastle right now, and Toon boss Steve Bruce is hoping a continued cup run can give his team a lift.

    Chelsea v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

This is the furthest Liverpool have progressed in the FA Cup under manager Jurgen Klopp, with the Reds last reaching this stage in the 2014-15 campaign.

It's third on Liverpool's list of priorities but daft as it undoubtedly is, lose tonight after losing to Atletico Madrid and Watford and you know what people will start saying...

  16. 'We want quality'published at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "We make the changes because we can, we have the players for it. I wanted a team which is naturally looking forward to this game, not counting the days betweem games. Fresh legs, we want quality, we want positivity.

"I am really happy with the team, I like the team. Let's get ready for it.

"We have had no time to show a response really, I can't expect them to run like crazy in training. The players who played against Watford had to help the boys who play today.

"We lost a game, it felt not good, but it's over. This is a different competition."
