  2. 'Desperate to finish it off'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 17 June 2020

Aston Villa v Sheffield United (18:00 BST)

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a bit surreal but we are getting on with it. We have done right through the process. We are in the same sitatution as everybody else and are just looking forward to getting back to playing.

"It will suit some teams in terms of getting players back fit. We were in good momemtum but have to pick that up again. The boys have worked incredibly hard to get themselves in a good physical condition. We are in a good position so we are desperate to finish it off.

On John Fleck and Jack O'Connell's injuries: "They are contact injuries. We are a competitive side so we compete in training. Fleck will hopefully be fit for sunday. We are just waiting on Jack.

"Every club in the country has had their issues throughout the season [with injuries]. We have kept a steady team, a healthy squad, but we will have to adapt now. The two boys that have come in, we are confident they will perform.

"Jack O'Connell tried to stop a goal going in in training and collided with Dean Henderson so he is unfortunate. It opens it up for a couple of other players."

    • All matches behind closed doors, with number of key people allowed inside the stadium limited to 300.
    • Stadiums divided into three zones - red (includes pitch and technical areas), amber (stands) and green (stand concourses) - with restrictions on who is allowed to enter each.
    • Teams able to make five substitutions, rather than three, in each match and able to name nine substitutes instead of the usual seven.
    • Staggered entry on to pitch for players and staff and no handshakes before kick-off. Deep cleaning of corner flags, goalposts, substitution boards and match balls before and after each fixture.
    • Extra disinfection, such as of the substitution board after it is used, likely during matches and at half-time.
    • Medical protocols stipulate how squads and coaching staff must travel to and from games, observing social distancing.
    • Post-match broadcast interviews will take place pitchside with press conferences conducted virtually.
    • VAR will continue to be in operation.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United (18:00 BST)

Down at the bottom, six clubs are seemingly battling it out to avoid the drop.

Bottom club Norwich are six points adrift on 21 points. Aston Villa and Bournemouth are the two clubs above them but are part of a group of five clubs, along with Watford, West Ham and Brighton, separated by just four points.

Aston Villa v Sheff Utd (18:00 BST)

Manchester City's two-year ban from European competition (appeal pending) means fifth place will be enough for a Champions League spot.

Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea and Manchester United are currently occupying the qualification places, but the likes of Wolves, Sheffield United, Tottenham and Arsenal will all begin again with a place in Europe's top competition as their aim.

A win for the Blades tonight will see them leap up into the top five.

One team is very much in the spirit already as the thunder of loud music from one of the dressing rooms pierces the silence beneath the vast Trinity Road Stand near where the media are situated.

Strict protocols of temperature testing have to be followed to get into the ground and social distancing is being fully observed inside.

Speaking of which, we get team news in just under 10 minutes. Intrigued to find out what changes will be made from 100 days ago...

I'm interested to see penalty success rates in empty stadiums, and what difference it makes to players taking spot kicks when you don't have 5000 fans in your eye line either praying you score or sky it. Pressure off?

    Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s going to be really interesting to see the players' celebrations - they’ve been discouraged from doing the group celebrations for obvious reasons but to turn to the crowd and celebrate with thousands of people who are sharing the same emotion as you… and they’re not there - it’s going to be quite surreal for them.

So I think it’s going to be tough for some. For some it’s going to be easier. As a former goalkeeper, the communication is going to be easier. You’re talking to your defenders - they’re going too be able to hear you better.

Hello! After an absence of 100 days - 100 days of watching classic games from yesteryear, following teams from Belarus/South Korea/Germany and bingeing boxsets, we finally get to see Premier League football again.

Granted, it's not the Premier League as we left it back in March, with empty stands and awkward, socially-distanced goal celebrations to come, but it's football and, for now, it will more than do.
