We've been waiting for quite a long time for football to return, but some things haven't changed. David Luiz made a mistake, Raheem Sterling scored a goal and Kevin de Bruyne was brilliant.

    Have we been away?

  2. Postpublished at 22:18 British Summer Time 17 June 2020

If you're just joining us, David Luiz didn't start this game but still made an error for the opening goal, gave away a penalty and got sent-off.

    Epic.

That was very, very easy for Manchester City.

It will delay the Liverpool coronation for a bit longer anyway.

To add a bit of jeopardy to proceedings my wife's just told me that her phone, which is powering this whole page now I'm in a powercut, is down to 8% battery.

An air kick now, that was better from Arsenal. A sight of goal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but he kicks fresh Mancunian sky.

  6. CLOSE!published at 90+6 mins

    Manchester City 3-0 Arsenal

And almost four but Bernardo Silva drags this one wide from 18 yards. It's been as lifeless a display as it gets from Arsenal, to be honest. Two shots all night, none on target.

Sergio Aguero should score - great pass from Phil Foden to slot him in but he hits the side-netting.

Phil Foden's finish - one touch, and smacked into the back of the net. Well done to the young man. He has not been given many chances but when he does, he rarely lets the team down.

  9. goal

GOAL - Manchester City 3-0 Arsenalpublished at 90 mins

    Phil Foden

Well Sergio Aguero very nearly did score! He's played in by Raheem Sterling, lovely move, Aguero's shot is turned on to the post by Bernd Leno and Phil Foden is on hand to slam in the rebound.

  10. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

Just the 11 minutes added on (ELEVEN).

You always look at the reactions and the first few reactions were that the players wanted the medics on as quick as possible, and they did come on incredibly quickly but once they were on the players were walking around and looked quite calm.

Let's hope that he is OK and back recovered soon.

10 substitutions, a red card, a bad injury - we could have some serious stoppage time here.

Must be seven or eight minutes now since Eric Garcia went down. He's now strapped into the stretcher.

And he's carried away now. All the best Eric.

A lengthy delay while Eric Garcia is looked at. City have used their five subs but they do right to take their time here, of course. It was a big collision.

That was a hefty hit. 15st of prime Brazilian through the top of Eric Garcia. Flat on his back, the medics are looking after him now.

Another injury to a defender and that looks nasty - Eric Garcia is flattened by Ederson as he comes out to clear his lines.

When Arsenal break, and I use the term loosely, the lack of help there from the players - they don't want to leave themselves open at the back.

Now there is more bad news for Arsenal - Sergio Aguero is coming on.

City now send on Sergio Aguero. Cheers for that says Arteta.

Nice! Raheem Sterling lines up a free-kick, long run-up, and then as he hits it he instead slides a pass down the side of the wall for Ilkay Gundogan.

He's in on goal but serves up a tame finish. An Alan Knill special that set-piece.
