The cynic in me thinks they will stay on and we'll have an advert break inserted - we shall see.

This game has really not got going yet. Maybe the little intervention will do some good.

There is at least a shot on goal, Moussa Sissoko side-footing one right down the middle but that's an easy grab from Dean Henderson.

I'm not sure drinks breaks will be kept on in the new season, depending on the timings of when this season finishes and the new one starts. They're a sensible decision now though for players coming back with quick games in succession.

That's something different Spurs have worked on. Ben Davies in the left-back spot, Son Heung-min went to come short, Chris Basham went tight with him but Son span him and ran to the corner. Can Spurs turn Sheffield United round and use the spaces? They have a back three who like to get forward - there are spaces.

Harry Kane's first sniff of goal, and he fizzes a shot wide. Steven Bergwijn is such a dangerous looking player, he covers the ground effortlessly and tees up Kane on his right. A tough angle though, would have taken something very special to beat Dean Henderson from there.

That's Spurs' problem, no out-ball. Sheffield United are getting narrow. Spurs want to thread them in fast, trying to get players on the run. Serge Aurier, it's a simple cross, you've got Harry Kane on the six-yard box, but it's a poor cross.

A better cross from Serge this time, he threads it between two defenders and finds Son sprinting in but he can't get a clean hit on the ball, it pops off his chest and into the grasp of Dean Henderson.

Poor from Serge Aurier, under no pressure on the right wing he leans back and slices a cross clear out of play.

Trademark stuff from Chris Basham, on the underlap this time to meet Oli McBurnie's stab into the area but Hugo Lloris had read it well and swept up nicely.

The Blades work it well down their left but Jack Robinson on the overlap serves up a poor cross. Spurs then counter, Moussa Sissoko carries it effortlessly 50-60 yards but his final ball sells Steven Bergwijn short. No real danger comes from it.

I can't make my mind up about Blades' record signing Sander Berge. He seems to lose the ball a lot whenever I see him, breaking down an attack on the right this time and Spurs counter well. Harry Kane is frozen out though.

  11. CLOSE!published at 6 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs do threaten from that corner - Eric Dier nudges on a header at the near post and it flies wide, with Moussa Sissoko close to reaching it at the far post.

Fantastic spell from Sheffield United. They've tried to press early and get in wide areas with one-twos and overlaps. Fantastic ball in from Enda Stevens. You can see the aerial threat of Oli McBurnie.

Eric Dier has gone for a mohican of sorts. Taxi Driver effort. Son then does well down the Spurs left to win a corner from their first real attack.

We all know Harry Kane doesn't score in August, how about July? He is chased out of it before the Blades come forwards again. Oli McBurnie and David McGoldrick nearly link up in the area.

Good from Wilder's boys thus far.

Ben Osborn, making his first start in the Premier League, gets forwards down the left but can't get a cross in before George Baldock hits a low shot straight at Hugo Lloris.

    Bright start from the hosts!

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder talking to Sky Sports:

"No excuse, we are missing some big players but we have to get on with it. I know the team is going to be fully committed.

"We are a newly promoted side that, with everyone fit, produces those performances and when we haven't we have to dig one out of somewhere.

"We are in the division for occasions like this."
