The ball bounced twice and Trent Alexander-Arnold should have dealt with it but Riyad Mahrez muscled him off the ball. That tells me Man City are up for it and Liverpool are not.

    Ruthless.

City rip Liverpool open again on the break. De Bruyne is brilliant, taking control near the edge of the box, biding his time and then picking a superb pass for Sterling, who fakes cuts inside and chips a shot that is deflected into the net by the desperate Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is trying to stop it.

Tip of the cap to Foden once again. His run took the Reds defence away from Sterling.

  3. 'Blue shirts like little ants'published at 21:39 British Summer Time 2 July 2020

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa & Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

When a City player has the ball, they have so many options and the blue shirts are around them like little ants. Liverpool have not had that tonight.

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

First half-chance for Origi, who combines with Salah in the box but can only tamely poke a shot that is blocked from an angle by a City defender.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Off go Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum, on come Naby Keita and Divock Origi for Liverpool.

  6. Postpublished at 61 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

City almost gift Liverpool a goal. Laporte's dire pass gives the ball straight to a Reds player, who tees up Firmino for a shot that is blocked.

Such is the way with City they immediately break down the other end to set De Bruyne to fire wide.

  7. It's Kyle Walker's faultpublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 2 July 2020

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

That VAR decision for the foul on Sadio Mane was the first time I have seen the guilty player identified for a decision.

Poor Kyle Walker. At least it was outside the box.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Riyad Mahrez gets 30 minutes to show us what he can do. He replaces Gabriel Jesus.

  9. Postpublished at 58 mins

It is Trent who hits it but he pulls his low effort past the side of the wall and also the far post.

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Nope. It is outside. Free-kick then, which Trent Alexander-Arnold will surely fancy. Walker gets booked for his foul.

  11. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 57 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Is this a penalty? Mane goes down via a little shove in the back from Walker. It could be inside the box, which VAR will sort.

  12. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Oh, Sadio, there was your chance to start a potential comeback.

The ball is fed at an angle into the box by Jordan Henderson for Mane, who is behind the City defence but somehow gets his feet in an almighty tangle and allows the ball to sneak through him.

If you needed any further evidence that the Reds are just not on it tonight, there it is.

Arsenal won the league with games to spare and still didn't lose afterwards in 2004. These newfangled teams just aren't as good as the old ones. .

Sorry have I missed something ...... who are the champions.....oh yes LFC ! Well done City you are winning a game that means nothing!

Ederson has a save to make but it comes not from a Liverpool shot but from an attempted clearance that deflects off Garcia and into the keeper's arms.

Raheem Sterling left Fabinho for dead. He had two options but he went with his left foot and it deflected just to safety.

  16. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Man City 3-0 Liverpool

City have picked up where they left off. Jesus has a shot blocked before Sterling goes on the charge, getting to the edge of the Reds box before unleashing a shot that deflects wide.

Then, moments after seeing the resulting corner cleared, Foden steers a shot that would have found the bottom corner had Virgil van Dijk not been there to hammer clear.

Big Liverpool fan, but loving how Foden is playing. Excited to watch how much more he will develop next season.
