There has been so many good performances from Southampton, they've got nine minutes to last.

In that Gary Lineker zoom chat with Danny Ings which you saw a bit of earlier Ings was saying he loves running around trying to win the ball in games like this.

Well, he's just made a great block inside his own D to charge down yet another shot on goal. A serious shift put in tonight.

Bernardo Silva gets free on the left, goes deep and finds Kevin de Bruyne loitering 25 yards out. He takes it on the chest and lines up the shot but doesn't really get hold of it.

Southampton retain a threat on the break. Shane Long carries the ball well, breaks a challenge and looks for Danny Ings through the middle. He can't gather in but the ball falls for Stuart Armstrong, whose swerving drive nearly gets past Ederson but he saves with a boot.

Good strike! Kevin de Bruyne swivels instinctively and lashes a shot just over. He's warming up.

I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from a load of dead rubbers played in front of some seagulls John.

Goalscorer Che Adams is replaced by Shane Long, still an absolute pest. I don't think being sub suits Kevin de Bruyne, I think he's misplaced more passes in this little cameo than he does in most months.

It’s just wave after wave of attack from Manchester City. We were saying about whether Ralph Hasenhuttl might try and get some more pace upfront because the ball is just coming back.

I hope the gentlemen who criticised Ederson for his positioning in the first half are watching as he bales City out. It's a rare error from Eric Garcia actually, duffing a backpass and Che Adams is in.

Ederson is lively though, 30 yards from goal to make a saving tackle.

Drinks break and for once the players will need it. That was an intense 20-odd minutes for the men in red and white.
