How brilliant is Micah Richards as a pundit? Great analysis, done with a big grin and a great laugh! He should be on the TV a lot more!

Alex McCarthy has been Southampton's standout performer - he's kept them in the game. Defensively Southampton have been really good, forcing Manchester City out wide.

I don't want to keep mentioning Sergio Aguero but when you know you are almost second best, like Gabriel Jesus, you can't play with that freedom. He doesn't seem to be playing with the confidence that the manager believes in him at the moment.

That was Che Adams' first goal in 456 days, since he got the winner for Birmingham over Leeds.

You would never think that Che Adams hasn't scored for Southampton. It is an incredible finish and well done for Southampton for the way that they are pressing. It is a phenomenal finish.

Man City have a fantastic style of football but a lot of credit has to go to Southampton. They have defended resolutely and Alex McCarthy has made some good saves.

Southampton have defended well. Man City have had their chances and Alex McCarthy has made some good saves but I think the two centre-backs have bullied Gabriel Jesus.

The City midfield has been very slow and I don't see any leaders out there today.

It was a very, very good half of football. Both sides are playing exciting football and Southampton deserve a lot of credit. They have pushed high and defended in front of the goalkeeper when they need to.

I think that's a compliment? Both sides have played well in this half, I've enjoyed watching it. Three minutes added on as Oriol Romeu goes in the book for a challenge which he got to as soon as he could.

Southampton are like ants. Fantastic pressing, fantastic hassle when we attack.

What a chance! It is a great ball from Kyle Walker-Peters, what a spot. Danny Ings is just stretching for it.

  17. CLOSE!published at 44 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Manchester City

Ah it's nearly two! What a ball in this is by Kyle Walker-Peters, whipped in from the right, early and brilliantly weighted for a lunging Danny Ings to get there before Ederson.

He can only help it over the bar but the pass was perfect.

Kevin de Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world and it's not happening for them in the middle tonight. He pulls them through and he was unbelievable against Liverpool.

Both players are fine after that tete-a-tete. City have dominated the ball as you'd expect but it's been a pretty even game on chances. Both sides look like scoring.
