Chris Mitchell: Am I the only one who thinks James Ward-Prowse is one underrated footballer?!? Great delivery, good engine, technically adept. Surely as good an option as any for England’s midfield?

Believe it or not I actually saw him have a better game than this once, for Reading against Liverpool. This one.

City have had 80% of the ball since the restart and now Bernardo Silva has a shot deflected just wide!

A lot of games in not a lot of time - a good few injuries. Ryan Bertrand is the man getting some treatment at the moment.

Since his Premier League debut for Manchester City in September 2015, Kevin de Bruyne has created more chances (432) and assisted more goals (62) than any other player.

He has registered 17 Premier League assists this season, just one shy of his season’s best of 18 in 2016-17.

    As good as Nicky Adams.

David Silva just seems to be everywhere at the moment, picking the ball out of the sky and teeing up Bernardo but his shot is again charged down. This is a superbly committed defensive showing so far.

  10. 'Massive telling off'published at 20:14 British Summer Time 5 July 2020

    Southampton 1-0 Man City

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's much better by Man City. There is more tempo to them and they have clearly had a massive telling off by the manager.

It's about mentality for Man City and they can turn it on and off. But you can't do that, you have to be on it all the time.

    Danny Murphy

That is a brilliant move. That is City at their best - patient, passing and it's a great ball into David Silva and another good save.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 54 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Manchester City

Superb football again! Oleksandr Zinchenko fizzes the ball crisply into the path of David Silva, who takes it into the area with a lovely, Zidane-esque spin. He is met by Alex McCarthy, goes to numeg the keeper and he somehow keeps it out yet again.

I agree with what Gary said at half-time that you can sometimes feel like it's not going to be your day but I don't think Manchester City will be feeling like that - it's been a good start to the second half by them.

That's another great save! Fernandinho is up on the right wing, his cross finds Aymeric Laportre who turns and shoots. His shot is charged down but loops up and only to Gabriel Jesus, who heads it down. He thinks he's scored but Alex McCarthy makes a superb one-handed stop.

Kyle Walker-Peters then makes a flying clearance at the back stick. Have Spurs got a better right-back?!

I think Manchester United and Chelsea will get Champions League. I think Leicester will miss out. Manchester United just seem to have a different kind of confidence at the moment.
