Northern Ireland just cannot deal with these long balls. Alexander Sorloth is inches away from making contact with a volley - that could have been a hat-trick.

Jonny Evans alongside Craig Cathcart is a formidable partnership at the back so you do have to take that into consideration [that Evans isn't playing].

I've always had a theory that football teams should be allowed to just shake hands and end a game if they agree on the current scoreline. I wonder whether both sides would just take this result now.

What a start to the second half! It's from a nothing ball. But the pace and the power of Erling Haaland blows them away. It's unselfish play to square the ball for Alexander Sorloth and the keeper had no chance. I can't see any way back for Northern Ireland now. Sheer, raw pace from the lad. Absolutely frightening.

    Alexander Sorloth

    Oh.

Norway scored in the second minute of the first half - and they do it again in the second half.

Erling Haaland controls a long ball and bursts into the box. He could shoot but instead squares it to Alexander Sorloth to slot home.

Just as the game was meandering to 0-0 at the interval, Italy pounce to take the lead.

A lovely header from Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella finishes off a slick team move to put Roberto Mancini's side ahead.

Netherlands interim boss Dwight Lodeweges has a vital team talk to give at the break.

It's been an international baptism of fire for new Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough.

One-nil down away to Romania and down to 10 men at half-time of his first match in charge, the former Motherwell boss now must rally his troops as they trail 3-1 to Norway halfway through this one.

He has not sat down at all during the game and he will need to make sure his players stand up and are counted in the second half.

Norway are a big, strong and effective team, no question, but a demoralising defeat was not on the cards as captain Steven Davis equals NI's all-time caps record.

They've had some spells of possession that have looked promising, but they need to create more chances.

    A big second half awaits.

    Gerry Taggart

Northern Ireland have been out-worked, out-muscled and the front two have been an absolute nightmare for the centre-halves. They are getting isolated. Stefan Johansen in midfield has been picking passes willy-nilly. All three goals have come from those kind of long, diagonal balls.

Conor Washington is up there on his own for NI, the midfield need to make more of an effort to get higher up the pitch. Baraclough will definitely have to make a change, whether it's Kyle Lafferty or Liam Boyce, as Washington can't keep this running up. NI have to find a way to turn their back four and get them facing their own goal.
