The impact of behind-closed-doors matches is felt before you arrive at the largely empty stadium.

The Green And White Army are renowned for their noise, with an electric atmosphere filling the south Belfast air when Northern Ireland are at home.

Not tonight, though. No fans standing outside packed pubs enjoying some pre-match refreshments. No chippy fans nor that distinctive smell of fried onions. No singing. No noise.

You couldn't help but notice this on the car journey to Windsor Park where now, almost an hour before kick-off, there is a hush across the stadium. Operational staff and media are working away, but the quiet is striking.

Davis says matching Jennings' NI caps record will be 'huge personal achievement'

Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis, 35, will win his 119th cap tonight as they face Norway in the Nations League.

The Rangers midfielder, who made his international debut in 2005, said he finds it "hard to sum up in words" what it would mean to him.

"It would be an unbelievable achievement for me," said Davis.

"I was delighted to reach 100 caps but to be so close to a legend of the game like Pat is really unbelievable.

"I take huge pride in pulling on the jersey and while there have been plenty of difficult times along the way, thankfully we've had a lot more success with the team recently and want to go on and have more."

    Tonight history could be made.

Legendary goalkeeper Pat Jennings has been Northern Ireland's most capped player since 1975, finishing on 119 caps by the time he retired in 1986.

And now 45 years after Jennings passed previous record holders Danny Blanchflower and Billy Bingham, he is set to be joined at the top.
