More from Southgate: "I think the whole group has shown amazing resilience really. We had numerous injuries, players quarantining and players short on match minutes bar those who played in the Champions League.
"We knew this would be incredibly difficult to piece it altogether and we will return to Wembley with it all in our hands."
On Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden: "I've spoken to both of them as I said yesterday they know what happened is unacceptable on both a Covid basis and, as I've learned more details, on any basis. Either way they would have gone home.
"The consequence has been there and they now need support. Everyone is wading in on them. They need help to rebuild. They need to understand the expectations of being an England player. We must help them on that process. We need to build trust and you have got to help young people back on their feet."
On whether Greenwood or Foden could return in October's international break: "I'll make a decision on that. A lot of trust must be built first. My mindset is not to hurt these boys any more. They're going through that with their families and friends and I don't need to add into that"

More from Southgate: "We looked very secure defensively which is a great platform to build on. We're looking at it against the better teams and how we develop it for higher quality opposition. You do lose some attacking threat. The options we had to play that system tonight weren't going to last the 90 minutes.
"We're still learning about Kalvin [Phillips]. For 15 minutes it took both [him and Declan Rice] a while to get going. I think it gave us stability. We made changes to accelarate it and be more forward thinking but Mason [Mount] has never played that role before so you are asking players to play a role they've never played before."
On missing a left-footed player: "But where is that player? I keep hearing that argument but I think [Kieran] Trippier has had two excellent games for us. [Ben] Chilwell is injured, Shaw is injured, Danny [Rose] has not really been involved with Spurs at the moment. So we adapted in the best way we could."

England manager Gareth Southgate speaking to Sky Sports: "I learned a lot. We wanted to start with stability. We could've probably been a little bit higher in terms of our attacking threat in the first half but we were in control and given the stage of the season the players are at that's really important. Physically that had a bearing on the formation we played as well.
"In the second half we started to accelerate the game with the changes we made when we felt in control. Mason [Mount] and Jack [Grealish] in midfield made us more forward thinking.
"I was very pleased with the lads who made their debuts. Conor Coady was excellent and Eric Dier has had two excellent games at centre-back for us so the back three for us today were very, very solid."

These were two good games to have a look at Jack Grealish. If Grealish had started both games, would he have been a weakness in the team? No he wouldn't.
So where would you play him? Jadon Sancho is not doing it for me - he's doing it for Dortmund, not for England. So you think 'I'll play Grealish in these games and if he s not playing well, bring Sancho on'.
You know what Sancho can do. Grealish is not going to let the side down. If he plays badly you say 'maybe he's not an England player'. But let's see if he could dot it and this was the perfect oportunity.
You can't give him 15 minutes and say 'see what happens'. He might never get another game.

England midfielder Jack Grealish speaking to Sky Sports: "I was actually a bit emotional. It's something you dream of. Everyone dreams as a little kid of playing for England.
"It was such a privilege coming on and it's a shame we couldn't get the win in the end. I want to thank Gareth [Southgate] for giving me the opportunity and hopefully it is the first of many.
"I got told to warm up and I stayed out there for 10, 15 minutes until I got the call. When I did it was obviously a brilliant moment for me. I'm sure I'll have a few messages but it's obviously a brilliant day for myself and one of the best of my career so far.
"It's my first game and I was happy with how I've done with my debut and as I say hopefully it's the first of a few. I've enjoyed every single minute. Everyone has made me feel welcome here."
On Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood: "I've tried not to look into it too much. They're young kids who will learn. It's my first England camp myself and I've just focused on myself and tried to impress the manager. They're both brilliant kids and I'm sure they'll learn from what they've done."

England defender Conor Coady speaking to Sky Sports: "Immensely [proud]. It's a dream come true. It's incredible to play with this group of players. There are world class players in this group - don't let anybody tell you otherwise.
"We're disappointed not to go away with the win but from a personal point of view I'm immensly proud.
"It's such a big moment. We found out this morning and it was an incredible feeling to see my name on the board with those players.
"I'm here to help these players and the team we're all here to improve the team. We've done alright but we wanted to come away with the win."

Nick Toogood: I thought the Nations League was meant to do away with drab international friendlies?
Luke Newman: I like Southgate, but I think he needs to stop experimenting. We need an established starting 11 who can learn to work together in regular games
Peter O'Sullivan: that was poor from Southgate tonight, selection and tactics. Was there a plan?? Feel we have gone backwards

Overall you have to say the system didn't seem right. There was not enough creativity.
If you're going to play that system you need two creative midfield players to give service to the front three.
You have to get people like James Maddison, when he's fit, and Jack Grealish in the middle of the pitch to start creating stuff. In both games there was not enough creativity in midfield.
You need two or three technical players in the team who can see something. Raheem Sterling has probably been the player in the two games who has looked likely to create something.

Anyone want my England euro 2020 tickets?
Paul, Leeds
I personally think Southgate has taken England as far as he can. The attacking talent he has at his disposal should be tearing team apart. He's not getting the maximum out of his players.

It ends 0-0.
Not a classic.

Ooooooohhhhhh, almost the winner for England in the 94th minute.
A mix-up between goalkeeper and defender, Kasper Schmeichel darts off his line for the ball but Harry Kane nips in and goes round the Leicester man.
Kane strikes a low shot which is heading into an open net, but ex-Huddersfield defender Mathias Jorgensen does brilliantly to get back with a sliding challenge to intercept.

On Wolves defender Conor Coady's debut England performance...
He's done Ok. He's used the ball well, he's talked well and he's organised.
He has looked the part.

Now a chance for Denmark late on.
Robert Skov swings in the free-kick, headed over at the back post by Simon Kjaer.

Richard Humphries: players not at fault here, entirely managers fault, wrong formation and too many players who play in the same position
Michael: Very dull football no shape no fluidity. Philips one of our better players tonight. Maybe we should look at more championship players
Mr E: England really needed Greenwood and Foden tonight.
