Manchester City's Lauren Hemp has collected the women's young player prize, beating team-mates Chloe Kelly, Georgia Stanway and Ellie Roebuck, with Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert and Manchester United's Lauren James also shortlisted.

City have completed the re-signing of England defender Lucy Bronze from Lyon, and Hemp believes City is the place to be.

She said:: "At the moment I think it's the time to be at City, and I think people from the outside are looking and saying, 'Wow they are going to do well this season'."

Marcus Rashford has vowed to find "long-term answers" to child food poverty in the UK, after receiving the Professional Footballers' Association merit award for combating the problem.

Manchester United striker Rashford forced the UK government into a U-turn over its free school meals policy during lockdown, ensuring children in need would receive meals across the summer.

The England forward has since formed a child food poverty task force, linking up with some of the UK's biggest supermarkets and food brands.

"What we've done so far, it's only a short-term answer," said Rashford.

"Me and my team behind me are just trying to find plans on how we can help these children for the rest of their childhood really; to find long-term answers to the problem."

Simon Callister: David Nugent? Jay Bothroyd? Either way hope Kalvin doesn't join them in the one cap wonder club

Iain F: Southgate seemingly the only person in England who thinks that Pickford is a better option than Pope/Henderson. A team with 3 CBs, 2 RBs & 2 defensive midfielders will get nowhere

Max: What on earth does Grealish have to do to get picked? unashamedly biased Villa fan here.

Doesn't seem fair for Championship players to be given a chance over proven Premier League players. If it's on merit I don't think Philips should start.

That is such an uninspiring team selection. Coady is a solid player, but why is Southgate building his team round him? Phillips starting an international before a premier league game whilst leaving three more creative midfielders on the bench; questionable to say the least.
