Bresla Stephenson: Dier is not instilling confidence so far.

Simon: Southgate's obsession with Eric Dier has to stop. He's not Premier League quality, let alone international quality.

Oof, could have gone in this.

Eric Dier sticks out a stray leg at a cross from the right and his clearance loops up and over his own bar.

This back three of Belgium are all over the place. Toby Alderweireld in particular is struggling. England have a good tempo and are unlucky to be a goal down. They are the better team.

    Belgium 1-0 England

    Belgium 1-0 England

England have reacted well to falling behind.

Gareth Southgate's side are going to have to win it from 1-0 down just like they did last month.

  9. CLOSE!published at 12 mins

    Belgium 1-0 England

England have two quick chances straight after the goal.

Jack Grealish nips in at the near post but his flicked effort is brilliantly blocked by Toby Alderweireld.

From the resulting corner, Harry Kane's free header is cleared off the line by the retreating Romelu Lukaku, who is not happy with his team-mates after that interception.

Jordan Pickford could maybe have done a little better. It's a decent effort from Youri Tielemans though. It's a sloppy ball out from Eric Dier and that deflection just took it out of reach from Pickford.

  11. goal

GOAL - Belgium 1-0 Englandpublished at 9 mins

    Youri Tielemans

Not a great start for England.

This comes from Eric Dier's loose pass in his own half, which is picked off by a red shirt.

A pass is fed by Romelu Lukaku to Leicester man Youri Tielemans who takes a touch and strikes it from range, which takes a nick off Declan Rice, Jordan Pickford cannot get a strong enough hand on it and the ball ends up in the back of the net via the post.

England have got a good tempo about them. They are really hustling Belgium. We know Belgium are good on the ball but they have struggled so far.

England are looking at getting the ball down their right a lot, Belgium's left.

Do they see Thorgan Hazard and ex-Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen as potential weak links?

  14. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Belgium 0-0 England

Two absolute ballers in action tonight, Kevin de Bruyne for Belgium and the aforementioned Jack Grealish for the Three Lions.

Wouldn't mind having either of those two in your team, eh!

Nice play from England, popping it around confidently.

They'll need to get dangerman Jack Grealish on the ball in the final third and the Aston Villa skipper is tripped by Jason Denayer.

The problem for England is that they will have to come out to try and win the game at some point. That will suit Belgium. Yes, Belgium's back line are not the quickest but England's front three are not the quickest either.

But excellent work by Harry Kane at the other end, holding off the challenges of Axel Witsel and Jason Denayer before drilling a 25 yard shot just wide.

Think Thibaut Courtois had it covered.
