If these really are the boots of referee Jon Moss then I think a full FA inquiry is not out of the question.

Paul: We should go into that fa cup final full of confidence whoever we play. We've just beaten the best two teams in Europe in space of a week. Don't care whether its Chelsea or utd, that final will be a 50/50 game. No Clear favourite

Arteta is doing great work with what he is given largely at Arsenal. Too early to say we are back but the progress is obvious. I just hope Arsenal can get back to crash the Liverpool/City "least fiery rivalry of all time" party soon.

    Ash, London

Is it far off to call Arteta manager of the year. Beat Man city and Liverpool in the space of a week! Great performance. David Luiz I repeat is underrated. COYG!

    Mr Anderson

When did you ever hear 'well organised' and 'Arsenal defence' in the same sentence?

  6. 'We were not good'published at 22:18 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport: "We didn't play good. The only regret is not to lose the game - that can happen - but it is that we did not play the first half like we play the second. We did not play good and on a day when you had to, we did not.

"We started low and without the way you have to play. We are always ready many times but today we were not.

"I knew they play five at the back and with high pressing. They defended well. It happened against Liverpool too so we knew it. But we were not good. We have to play good to go through.

"Now we have two weeks so we want to play the final [of the Champions League]. We want to be in rhythm. It is the last opportunity we have to go through [to win another trophy]."

  7. 'An incredible week'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport: “We’ve had an incredible week to beat the best two teams in Europe, it doesn’t happen every day.

“I don’t care who plays, I can trust them - we made changes ad everyone was ready.

“We had to suffer in many moments. We had to be really well organised and minimise the spaces."

On seeing Pep Guardiola after the game: “I high-fived him after the game and wished him luck. I love him like yesterday or this morning the same way."

On Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract talks: “Hopefully it will help him to be more convinced we are going in the right direction.”

  9. 'Arsenal will probably prefer Chelsea'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On who Arsenal would rather face in the FA Cup final...

I don't think they're thinking about that. They knew they were up against it tonight Arsenal - they are just glad they are through.

If you want me to say a name, I would probably say Chelsea.

  10. 'I'm sad we can't enjoy with fans'published at 22:11 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to BT Sport: "I'm extremely happy and proud of the players. I'm sad that we can't enjoy this moment with our fans.

"That's what you need against this team. You have to make the most of the opportunities and put everybody on the line. They are the best team in Europe in the way they play positionally.

"There's a great chemistry between them [Arsenal players] and they believe in what we are trying to do and you can see that. Congratulations to them.

"They [Man City] are really good on the high press, as we are as well. We gave the ball away in dangerous situations and they are good in that transition moment but the first goal was really great. There are some things that we are trying to close down."

Harry Aleche: My younger brother like me is an Arsenal fan. He believes that whenever he watches Arsenal play live they lose. He decided not to watch today so they can win.

Abhishek: Luiz in a nutshell. Bad for a lot of the games and then put in monumental performances against LFC and City.

  15. 'We are human beings'published at 22:03 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to MOTD: "We didn't make a good performance, we were not ready enough. If you don't play for 90mins in a semi-final this can happen. We didn't play good, we are human beings. The opponent played good, sometimes it happens.

"The only regret is that we didn't play the first half like we played the second one. We had to change the setup but we couldn't do it."

  16. 'Will Aubameyang stay with Arteta?'published at 22:00 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Will Arsenal be a better team if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stays? Of course they will.

But the longer this all goes on it looks like he has already made his mind up.

Will Aubameyang perhaps see something in Arteta? And from winning against Liverpool and now Manchester City. He must have enjoyed today though.

If he wants to win big trophies, is he going to do it at Arsenal next season? No, he's not.

  17. Postpublished at 22:00 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

Manchester City had just one shot on target in this match, their fewest in a game since April 2018 in the Champions League against Liverpool (0).

  18. 'Building for something big'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney to MOTD: "It was tough, we knew we would have less of the ball against City and you have to take your chances when you get them. Aubameyang does what he does.

"We have to suffer together in games like this, When we get the ball we have to play well but we know we will have 5-10minute spells when we won't see the ball.

"Aubameyang has done it for so long, it's an honour for me to play with him. That ball I played isn't a goalscoring ball but he makes it one.

"We are building for something big."

  20. 'This club deserves a trophy'published at 21:58 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender David Luiz speaking to BT Sport: "It was a great result against one of the best teams in the world. We were humble, we understood the way we had to play and we took the opportunities to score.

"We have to be mature, to understand what level we are in the process. We have an amazing coach but we can't go from 0 to 100. We are improving. The spirit was great and I'm happy for the team because they deserve it.

"All the team defended, it is not just the last line. Everybody has to fight and play every ball 100%. It's part of the process. We could do more of this in the game so it would maybe be easier. The other team is miles away in front of us but we were humble so when we play we can hurt the opponent and we did that."

On the criticism he has received recently: "It is part of the football. I understood that football is about surviving. Every day you are going to defend the odd thing. I was working hard every single day after my mistakes. I was humble to work more and to work more for the team.

"We have a final to play this season and we will try and win a title for this club because this club deserves to win a trophy."
