It's crazy that we've gone from having a defence more fragile than a bone-china tea set, to the most solid defence since Adams and Keown against Liverpool and City!

Arteta's passion and desire is permeating it's way into this Arsenal team. Missed this spirit and fight..

    Antony from Hemel

For all this talk about Man City dominating my nan could have played in goal for Arsenal tonight.

There'll be a lengthy bit of added time added to the added time, Shkodran Mustafi looks done in.

Arsenal send on Sead Kolasinac and Rob Holding for Mustafi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

City replace David Silva with Fernandinho.

Raheem Sterling catches Shkodran Mustafi as the Arsenal man clears the ball away and he goes down in pain, holding his hamstring which is a strange one. He'll take some treatment.

It's wave after City wave at the moment. They're probing, popping the ball around.

Arsenal are sitting so deep, everybody is behind the ball.

City still play it along the fringes of the box looking for space - there just isn't any. Arsenal's defending has been near immaculate so far.

Granit Xhaka has completed 100% of his passes in the game so far.

    28 from 28.

Arsenal have got a back eight and there's no room to thread any pass into the area. Aymeric Laporte sees that and shoots from 20 yards - inches wide. Inches. Whacks the big stanchion thing behind the goal.

I must have missed the rule change that stipulated football matches were decided on possession rather than goals scored.

    Marlo.

I don't think all the pre-match praise of Arteta from Guardiola was quite intended to have this effect...

I got hauled over the twitter coals last time I said this but City could do with a Plan B sort of striker at times. Edin Dzeko type.

At the moment they are putting crosses in and Arsenal are dealing with them.

Matt Williams: Forget Arteta being the new Guardiola. The new Mourinho!

Wale Ibraheem: Whatever Aubameyang wants why can't Arsenal just give him.

David Luiz was so, so bad against Manchester City last month.

He came on in the 24th minute after Pablo Mari was injured, and was at fault for Raheem Sterling's opener.

He then hauled down Riyad Mahrez to give away a penalty and was sent off.

He's been excellent this evening, in the right place again to clear Phil Foden's cross.

    Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City

City have really responded but we've said all along that Arsenal have the players to hurt any team on the counter attack.

Nobody was going to catch Aubameyang.

They're working so hard, Arsenal. They have narrowed up so much and nothing has got through as of yet.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the fourth Arsenal player to score a competitive brace at Wembley Stadium, after Reg Lewis (1950 FA Cup final), Charlie Nicholas (1987 League Cup final) and Alexis Sanchez (2015 FA Cup semi-final).

It's been a really interesting game to watch all night and the last 15-20 minutes will be no different. City just camped in the last third but Arsenal are defending superbly. Hector Bellerin the latest to shut down Raheem Sterling.

Arsenal have had four shots all night, they've all been on target and two of them have gone in.

City have hit the target with just one of their 12 attempts.

Man City have definitely been the better team this game, but Arsenal will win simply for being more clinical

With a second goal, can arsenal celebrate now?

    Wow.

That was the danger for Manchester City - Arsenal on the counter.

It's a really cool finish from Aubameyang. They have sucked it up, Arsenal, and they have hit Manchester City with a sucker punch.

  19. CLOSE!published at 73 mins

Not over yet of course - and Raheem Sterling gets a shot in straight away after a good cutback from the left but David Luiz does brilliantly to block it up and over the bar.
