GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Manchester Citypublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (71 mins)

Wow! What a clinical counter attack! Arsenal have been swamped by attacks all half but one sharp move could have booked a place in the FA Cup final.

Kieran Tierney again plays the key ball down the left, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is onside and runs in on goal. Eric Garcia gets back but the former Dortmund man knows exactly how long he's got and just cool as you like slots under Ederson.

Is it going to be Arsenal's evening?

Mikel Arteta is fired up for this. He was rallying his Arsenal troops at the drinks break.

He'll know this is a monumental effort but they have to make sure they see it through.

Is it me or have City lost some of their intensity since the CAS decision went in their favour?

For the first however many months we had VAR you tended to think that if they watched anything enough times, they would make a decision to give a penalty/rule out a goal etc.

    Not so tonight.

City are piling on the pressure now, Kevin de Bruyne with another great ball across the face of goal and it comes off David Silva and goes wide.

  8. 'Sterling was enraged'published at 21:10 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sterling was enraged by that challenge by Mustafi, he was straight up onto his feet.

Mustafi does catch the right boot of Sterling.

What I would say is, if that was outside the box, a free-kick would be given.

    Well VAR say play on!

From the corner there's another great chance! The ball hits Raheem Sterling in the nexk and pops into the keeper's hands.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

Shkodran Mustafi goes to ground as he closes in on Raheem Sterling - the referee gives a corner but the VAR will have a look at this.

    It's a clumsy challenge...

  13. 'City not working Martinez enough'published at 21:07 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

An hour into the game and Martinez still hasn't had anything of note to do. Manchester City just haven't worked him enough.

You can't rule out Arsenal breaking free either. They do have that threat. That is keeping this game intriguing.

  15. CLOSE!published at 62 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

Eeeeshhhh that's close! I tell you what though, Emi Martinez had that covered.

Superb free-kick from Kevin de Bruyne, the old knuckleball as they call it, up and over the wall in a flash, topspin central and it ripples the side-netting on the way through.

Sometimes the FA Cup semi-final is reduced to Sunday League stuff, and that's fine. Kevin de Bruyne's corner causes an almighty stramash in the six-yard box, with several swings and misses coming in, a few half-hearted shouts for handball and an eventual panicked boot out of play.

  19. 'Can Arsenal maintain intensity?'published at 21:02 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos have put in a tonne of work in that Arsenal midfield.

The concern for Mikel Arteta is whether they can keep up that intensity in this game.

I think it is a different Manchester City so far in this second half.

Whatever Pep did or said at half-time it's worked. Much more on it now, though they do still trail, of course.
