Drinks break - Pep Guardiola is very animated, pointing and gesticulating wildly to his players.

    Rubbish these timeouts aren't they.

Oooowwwwww that looks bad. Shkodran Mustafi treads on the back of David Silva's ankle and bends it into an unnatural shape. He gets away without a booking, somehow, and City head the free-kick over.

Paul: Doesn't matter how much possession you have if you do nothing with it. All Man city yet first shot at goal comes from arsenal and so has the first goal.

Adam Salter: What a goal! Passing throughout the entire team, back to the front. Very similar to Monreal’s goal in 2017

  4. Man City fail to heed warningpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley

Manchester City really got away with one when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed his first chance - but they did not learn and he finished with real quality with his second opportunity.

Great techique and reward for Arsenal's improvement.

Arsenal could repeat their performance vs LFC.. be completely dominated but stay sturdy(ish) at the back and take your chances?

    Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

Since his Arsenal debut in February 2018, the only Premier League player with more goals than Aubameyang (65) across all competitions is Mo Salah (68).

Not a bad record. Can City respond? They've been second best since just before the goal.

  7. 'An odd start'published at 20:07 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

What a difficult finish this is from Aubameyang. It's brilliant from Pepe out on the right-hand side.

It's a brilliant finish it really is. And it all came from Arsenal playing out from the back.

What a start - what an odd start, really.

  8. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Manchester Citypublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (19 mins)

He doesn't pass up on a second chance, and what a finish that is! Arsenal put together a lovely passing move, which starts with their own goalkeeper, and ends with Nicolas Pepe floating in a lovely cross from the right.

It comes across goal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, from a tough angle to the left of goal, clips a half-volley across goal and in off the far post.

You wonder whether Aubameyang presumed he was offside as he rather hurried that shot. A huge chance. Arsenal now seeing more of the ball though...

  10. CLOSE!published at 15 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Someone at Wembley has got a new camera, that's a lovely swooping shot over the upper tier and across behind the goal. Superb.

And our first shot on target comes from Arsenal! David Luiz plays the ball through to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he nutmegs Kevin de Bruyne on the way as well.

He's onside, right through the middle of the area and blasts it straight at Ederson.

    That's a massive chance!

  11. Ominous start by Man Citypublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Phil McNulty

Manchester City are zipping the ball about with real confidence and Arsenal are feeling the strain already at the back.

  12. 'Alarming Arsenal start'published at 20:01 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

After 11 minutes, Manchester City had 83% of possession.

That is alarming for Arsenal. But still, it's 0-0.

It has been such a slow start by Arsenal. Is that part of the plan? They are letting Manchester City just build.

Alexandre Lacazette has the ball in the net but the offside flag was long since raised and Ederson had stopped playing. I tell you what, that's tight.

City thumped Watford 6-0 in the final last year and I'm not sure it was as one-sided as this. City all over Arsenal.

Arsenal have real pace in attack and will be looking to take advantage on the counter. We have seen that cause Manchester City problems in the past.

  17. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester City

Chaos. Absolute chaos in the Arsenal defence and David Luiz is not guilty on this occasion. Shkodran Mustafi, the Lloyd to Luiz's Harry, gets the ball from the keeper and just panics.

Clear your lines man! Raheem Sterling tackles him and he's only about four yards out. Somehow, City don't score.

Very interesting decision from Arsenal to close down passes on the City flanks. Seems like that Arteta has done his homework on us or something.
