Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez speaking to BBC One: "I can't really talk. I said to him [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] before the game, you are going to win us the game."

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang speaking to BBC One: "Big respect for this man [Martinez].

"We enjoyed toay. We are so happy. As you can see, Emi [Martinez] is crying. That shows, that winning this game and this trophy makes us so happy.

"We deserved this win. He [Mikel Arteta] did a great job and we are so happy to have him on board."

On Ian Wright celebrating his second goal: "Did he enjoy it? Wrighty! Wrighty in the 90s! I am right-footed so I went on the left and that's it.

Can you tell us anything about your future? "Nothing. Just today and the trophy. That's it!"

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lifts the trophy off a plinth and carries it over to the rest of the team - then he drops it! It rolls off the stand and onto the turf. Oh dear.

Never mind, now he can hoist it and the fireworks and tickertape can be launched!

Out of a very bad crop of referees, Anthony Taylor is one of the worst. As a Spurs fan I don't favour either team here, but the standard of refereeing continues to let down English football.

It has been a magnificent effort from Mikel [Arteta] and the coaching staff. To end up winning the FA Cup and getting Arsenal back into Europe is a magnificent effort. I'm very proud of Arsenal today. They deserve that!

Arsenal were the better team. They defended better and when you have a touch of class up front with Aubameyang, you always have a chance. Arsenal defended and defended well. They deserved it.

  9. 'Chelsea were unfortunate'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

Mikel Arteta has got everybody on side. What that says to me is that if he gets the backing he needs, he can get Arsenal back to where they want to be. I am so pleased!

Chelsea were unfortunate with those injuries and they had some decisions which were very unfair on them.

Arsenal extend their record number of wins to 14 – two more than Manchester United. They have won 10% of all FA Cups

Victory is their seventh this century and fourth in seven seasons.

They have now beaten Chelsea in all three of their finals.

They have triumphed in nine of their last 10 FA Cup finals, including each of the last seven in a row – matching Tottenham’s record between 1901 & 1982.

Mikel Arteta becomes the fourth Spaniard to win the cup after Rafael Benitez, Roberto Martinez and Pep Guardiola .

Arteta is the first person to win the FA Cup with Arsenal as both a captain and a manager.

They will be playing in Europe for the 25th straight season– Wolves miss out unless they can win the Europa League.

Arsenal were the better team, they showed great character after going behind and Chelsea didn't have a shot on target in the second half.

Pulisic going off injured helped them.

This is such a big result for Mikel Arteta if Arsenal see this through. I don't think anyone thought they would win a trophy this season. They were a soft team. Not now. The penalty for Arsenal was a huge turning point. The second goal was one of the great FA Cup goals.

A penalty which was a free kick out the box, and the harshest 2 yellows in the history of football, congrats Anthony Taylor, you've ruined a final.

    Matt, Cobham

I'm a lifelong Arsenal fan but they have benefited from some utterly rank officiating. With VAR seemingly unwilling to overturn many decisions that should be the domestic league and cups have become a joke. Of course I want Arsenal to win, but fairly. Not Arsenal's fault, though.
