Bayern Munich 4-1 Chelsea (Agg: 7-1)

Into the first of two minutes of stoppage time in Munich with Bayern Munich breezing into the quarter-finals.

A different class from Chelsea tonight but you feel many teams will find it difficult against them on this showing.

Robin P Young: 7-1 on aggregate. Just a reminder that this is what Bayern did to Spurs in one game. Bayern are the kings of embarrassing London clubs.

Dave Bookham: Can blame Kepa all you like, our defence is useless and we are tactically poorly set up. Alisson or Ederson would struggle with this set up!

Amrul Choudhury: Rewind 2012 and Chelsea had proper defenders to win this competition.

  3. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

Oooh, that would have made things interesting for the final few minutes.

Arkadiusz Milik thinks he has one back for Napoli as he heads in powerfully but the flag is up for offside.

Replays show it was the right call and Barcelona still lead 4-2 on aggregate with nine minutes remaining.

  5. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 4-1 Chelsea (Agg: 7-1)published at 21:41 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Robert Lewandowski (84 mins)

    What a header!

Bayern Munich are not letting up as they score a fourth on the night and seventh in the tie.

Alvaro Odriozola crosses from the right and a big shout of "mine!" from Robert Lewandowski tells Corentin Tolisso to duck and the striker thumps a powerful header into the back of the net.

Superb performance from Lewandowski tonight. Chelsea haven't been able to handle him.

Paul: Pathetic defending for that 3rd goal. Won't win anything defending like Chelsea do. It isn't just tonight, they let 54 goals in over the PL season. They never seem to learn.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 3-1 Chelsea (Agg: 6-1)

Bayern Munich make their fifth and final change as Javi Martinez replaces Serge Gnabry.

A change for Chelsea, too, as goalscorer Tammy Abraham is replaced by Olivier Giroud for the final 10 minutes.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

A couple of changes for Napoli, who are approaching kitchen sink throwing territory. On come Matteo Politano and Hirving Lozano for Jose Callejon and Piotr Zielinski.

  9. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 3-1 Chelsea (Agg: 6-1)published at 21:33 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Corentin Tolisso (77 mins)

    Did anyone fancy defending? No?

Corentin Tolisso is waved on through as Chelsea's defence watch a cross come in from Robert Lewandowski and the substitute gleefully sidefoots in under no pressure.

  10. Postpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

Lionel Messi does well to connect with an awkward ball into the box but his hooked effort is of little trouble for David Ospina.

Just over 20 minutes remaining in this game and it has been a half of few chances so far.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

A good run by Ross Barkley is brought to a stop right on the edge of the area by Thiago. Barkley steps up to take the free kick but hits it straight into the wall.

Bayern make a couple more changes as Alvaro Odriozola replaces Joshua Kimmich while Thiago is replaced by Corentin Tolisso.

  12. CLOSE!published at 21:26 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

A couple of decent chances in quick succession as Thiago's free header from a corner is denied by Willy Caballero before David Alaba's shot on the follow up is straight at the Chelsea goalkeeper.

  13. Postpublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

Great tackle by Gerard Pique as he gets across to slide the ball from off the feet of Lorenzo Insigne just as he was about to cut it back into the middle of the box.

Barcelona haven't done much attacking in this half, but they don't need to really.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:21 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

Jerome Boateng tried to continue but he is going off now - not worth taking any risks. He is replaced by Niklas Sule while Philippe Coutinho is on for Ivan Perisic.

  15. CLOSE!published at 21:19 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

    Should be 3-1!

Kurt Zouma misses his clearing header and the ball perhaps catches out Thomas Muller as his shot is into the ground and over the bar.

Jerome Boateng hasn't gone off yet. He was receiving treatment on the edge of the pitch but was eager to continue.

  16. Postpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

Lorenzo Insigne reacts quickly to a deflected shot to flick a header towards goal but it is too close to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Insigne probably should have done better there, but the chance came to him quickly.

  17. Postpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Bayern Munich 2-1 Chelsea (Agg: 5-1)

Jerome Boateng looks to have pulled a muscle after going in for a challenge with Callum Hudson-Odoi. He looks in real discomfort and may have to come off.

  18. Postpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    Barcelona 3-1 Napoli (Agg: 4-2)

Gennaro Gattuso is still striding up and down that touchline with a scowl on his face. His (angry) presence is perhaps why Napoli have made a decent start to this half. Lots of attacking, although little in the way of chances.

I'm not sure what sort of manager I'd prefer if I were a player - one that stares at your from the the touchline looking like he is ready for a scrap or one that is more emotionless but a calmer presence on the edge of the pitch.
